Worried and unsure

My first post here and apologise if post is unclear but finding it very difficult to post about my problem.

I feel dizzy on standing up and have a slight tingly feeling in left arm and left leg, My BP via finger pulse thingy was 111 sitting and 136 standing.

A week ago things got like this I went to doctor who said it was just a passing thing as my heart was sound from readings.

The next day however she phoned me and asked me to go to surgery where after more tests advised me to make my way to ASU emergency unit. I was given various tests, placed on a drip and after about 6 hours sent home.

This was last Thursday. Sort of ok until yesterday when sudden hot sweat followed by dizziness

I was not given no meds last time and dont wont to bother medicals but feel unwell.

Please advise

what did they say was the problem or suspected problem? Some details of you can share regards what they said and why they checked you over will help people here support / advise. It’s good they acted and if there was anything they would have taken further action. That may give you assurance although can totally understand is worrying. But if you are concerned which seems to be the case, go back to your GP. They were concerned enough to send you to hospital they are likely to be helpful now. Worrying creates anxiety etc so worth going back for answers.

no problem, can’t help with that, but hopefully someone will come along soon who can. 👍

Hello & Welcome :-)

It is always hard to do your first post and try and get across what has been happening so you have made a big step by doing so :-)

I just wondered when you were in the Hospital and they did various tests did they tell you what they were for , did they tell you any results from them and as they let you go did they say if everything was fine or they would send the results back to your GP

I know when we end up in Hospital we are so worried it is only after we think of all these questions we wished we had asked

You say you do not feel well yet you do not want to bother medicals but that is what they are there for and your health is important so it is not bothering them but getting help when you feel unwell and I would contact you Doctor tomorrow let them know and if you feel you cannot wait till then go to A&E and get checked over :-) x

just a thought – in addition to my earlier reply.-If you are being referred to a cardiologist through your GP, it is likely tgat you would have to wait for some time so I thought maybe you can ask your GP to prescribe you something maybe something like Bisoprolol just to help to settle your tachycardia and reduce the heart rhythm. This is what I would do if I had such heart rate rythm readings. Having said that it is not too high I have friends and I know other people who have higher heart rate , so don’t worry about it too much. Let me know if you have any questions about my experience-happy to chat. My name is Lara I am 56 if it helps.

You are ok like I say I do it all the time :-) x

If you are feeling really ill you should go to A&E. If you are just feeling unwell and believe your symptoms are heart related make an urgent appointment with the GP first thing tomorrow.

First I know how you must be feeling when we don’t have the answer to our symptoms.

I suggest ringing your GP this morning before they close for the weekend.

Anxiety makes you feel worse.

You should receive some reassurance from the results of the tests you had.

Dehydration alone can make you feel like this so drink plenty of water.

Good luck and certainly get support from your medical centre .They are there if you need them and you do.

hello there, I have been through many cardio issues and one thing sounds for certain is that you might be having an issue with a heart rhythm. The fact that they sent you home from the hospital sounds reassuring however the hard rythm reading that you stated which is over hundred. Sounds like tachycardia to me, as the issue is with a heart, you need to see a heart specialist— cardiologist. They have several tests to determine tachycardia and variety of treatment.

This is not a life-threatening condition and millions of people live with that it is quite possible that they will put you on a small dose of beta blockers such as Bisoprolol which will sort your heart rhythm out. Try to find a cardiologist, and in the meantime, reduce coffee if you are a coffee drinker, it will be fine don’t worry but definitely need to find just ask for referral from GP. Or if you have a private medical then definitely go through private. I would like it as I have a private medical and I could see cardiologist within a week but a referral from GP through NHS. Eventually did come through an appointment was in nine months. During this time I had my treatment and already recovered and only saw my NHS cardiologist last week. The problem was since last October so definitely private medical is the way to go resort. Of course where you live might be different location and different situation with NHS. Good luck and please don’t worry!

Dear auntie_biotics

You know that something is not right with the way you are feeling,

Like other have suggested you need to get answers to your worries and if that means bothering medics then do so, that is what they are trained for.

Please take care and keep us informed.

Get well soon

hello,

Sounds like what you’re having is indeeed some form of tachycardia but you must find out exactly what al the hospital test found and what is the plan.

You cannot live in constant tachycardia.

Even if some types are harmless in the sense that they won’t kill you, they’re still debilitating and in the long run putting a lot of strain on your heart muscle.

Your GP sound helpful, call him/her and ask to go through what the hospital found, also if you were admitted, they should have given you a discharge letter with the test results and a plan/recommendation.

Don’t leave it as it is, it is just not a fair way to live your life, especially knowing that tachycardia can be treated!!

All the best

Your current symptoms and treatments you describe so far are precisely the reason you have a GP. I suggest you phone and ask for a GP call as soon as possible.

If you are aware of your racing heart get a scrap of paper and note the time and heart rate HR. And perhaps take your HR at 2 or 3 set times a day. GP's like home produced data.

If you have a blood pressure monitor at home take those readings too and let the GP know you have them.

Prevention is better than Cure.

I think those finger pulse thingy readings are your pulse rate not your BP. YOU need a proper BP machine to get that. I would say you certainly need to go back to your GP and ask for an explanation. Is your tachycardia constant? ( IT means a fast heart rate) Tachycardia can be caused by anxiety, y our pulse changes depending on what you are doing or how you feel. Mine went up to 135 last week just watching TV but then went down again. That's completely normal. It would seem the hospital didn't find anything they were worried about but you obviously are so go back to that GP and ask questions. You are NOT bothering the medics if you don't feel well.

The finger thing is for O2 and pulse readings not blood pressure. Possible that fainting feeling on standing is due to BP drop. Needs to be checked.
