How long shall I do breathing exercises, I'm 6 weeks post op ,I do fill slight pain like a stich under left ribs after a long walk ,would it be best to carry on breathing exercises for next few mths while sternum is healing

Hello :-)

At this stage keep on doing them and continue for at east a few months and where you feel that you can walk go about your daily tasks without any breathing issues

Some continue to do them for years after :-)

I do not think there is any set time limit but would be to early yet after just 6 weeks , I would keep going :-) x

i did them until my post op review which was around2 months post op.

at the review tue did a chest X ray and saw all was ok.

Pull air into your stomach where your hands are by taking a deep breath through your nose. With your breath, try spreading your fingers apart. Breathe out slowly through your nose. For one minute, keep breathing deeply.
