On-X Aortic Prothetic/Mechanical Valve

Hi,

I wondered if anyone had come across or has an On-X mechanical valve and what your opinion was on it.

I am considering having this type of valve for my replacement due soon. I read it supports a lower warfarin dosage, but looking at the study below I'm not so sure that this is effective.

Thank you! 😊

Hi had a mechanical aortic valve 2005 have found warfarin intake is hardly ever consistent, I really wouldn’t worry about it, it’s easily controlled especially if you have a home monitor

Had my On-X aortic valve fitted 9 years ago. I can hear it ticking especially in bed, but I have got used to that. My INR range is 2.5-3.5 which sounds high compared to what most are on with this valve, but that is probably my doctors forgetting to tell me to lower the dose after the first few months. I can't get to see a cardiologist because they will only see very urgent cases and my stable angina is not urgent enough apparently. Got to wait until it becomes unstable.

Thanks Wingnutty, good to hear. I wouldn't be too concerned about the INR, everyone is different and reading the study above in the link, there are two sides to using this valve with a lower INR.

Hi. Had my On-X valve fitted 4 years ago and it is working well. Warfarin not causing any probs sits between 1.5 and 2. Can hear the valve when lying in bed but not that loud and easily ignored. Good luck for the op.
