5 weeks tomorrow since my heart attach and 5 weeks tomorrow since i had my last ciggie, a couple of things....

I look at people smoking and feel jealousy, it s not fair, i want a ciggie, but i know i cant, it is very hard to deal with and not many understand it!

I thought i was fit, but obviously im not at all, i walk the dog 3 times a day, im doing these 10 mins cadio workouts from an app which is actually really good, my chest does not hurt but my knees and hips hate it!

Firstly congrats on stopping smoking! 5 weeks is quite a while. There will always be bits of you missing it! I hope you are putting the money you save towards something to treat yourself with.

I also thought I was fit prior to my bypass sometimes its not your fitness or diet that has caused the issue. Lots of things can be genetics. Through investigation my liver was found to be producing high level of bad cholesterol.

Remember to look after you knees with exercise. Reduction of impact help. There is often a low impact version which is just as challenging but can protect joints. Also with exercise there are lots of diffrrent things to try that may give a good workout but are kind to joints. One thing I am looking forward yo is going back to exercise classes at the gym. There are loads for all abilities.

Hello :-)

Well done 5 weeks since you last smoked :-)

I actually had pneumonia before my heart events and that is what made me stop but I would sit and think it is not fair and so on and for me I think it was because I in a way did not choose to stop my health did sounds crazy I know but I had friends that stopped because they wanted to I never did and even after the pneumonia I didn't but my lungs took such a battering I knew they would not cope

But think about it every time you see someone smoking all that rubbish going into their bodies all the damage it is doing and all that money they are setting a fire to help kill themselves ...now does it seem fair do you want back what they have ?

The money you would have spent on cigarettes for now put it to one side , pick something for yourself you would have never indulged yourself with maybe because cigarettes were eating up your money and when you have saved enough buy what you wanted , look at it show it of if you want and tell yourself stopping smoking has saved my health and enabled me to have this instead

That is what I did in the early days and I soon stopped been envious of the smokers !

You are doing really well with the exercise and those knees and hips maybe are not used to it but they will get used to it and no longer hurt :-)

Keep it up you are doing great :-) x
