Hello
After Surgery for a few months a lot of us complain nothing tastes the same due to the large amount of anesthetic we have had after 7 months though that usually has come back to normal
I wonder did they put you on any different medication after your op as some meds can give you a funny taste on your tongue
Others may be able to relate when they see your post and give you some answers x
i have not had by-pass surgery but my sense of taste was dramatically altered as a result of anibiotic therapy - it took over a year for it to return to normal - but at the time i though it would never return
many foods and drinks tasted disgusting and i had to alter my diet to exclude them - it had a significant impact on me and the doctors had no explanation - i had to work it out for myself
yet is is known that antibiotic therapy such as that given for major surgery (and in my case diverticulitis) can affect your senses of taste and smell - several other drugs can also do this, including ACE inhibitors
i hope your returns to normal soon
