Cocktail of meds yet no real diagnosis. Anyone taking the same?!?

I am currently taking the following meds and wondered if anyone else was on the same mix and how the faired with it and if it is for similar symptoms.

Isosorbide mononitrate, 75mg aspirin, atorvastatin, and have recently been told to take lisinopril as well as my BP is high!

I am only 41 and have not had a heart attack, or confirmed CHD (waiting on CT angiogram). My 24hr ECG was normal, as was my echogram.

My heart seems to go into overdrive now and again, up to 160bpm for a few minutes for no external reason. There is rarely any pain, just a feeling of dread and self awareness that is very unnerving.

Other than that, i am unusually tired and have broken sleep every night.

Thank you in advance.

Hello &Welcome :-)

They usually put us all on similar meds while waiting to find out if anything could be wrong as a precaution

Your meds could be making you tired as well as affecting your sleep

I take 2 of the one's you take as well as some different ones as well and I know they make me tired but I know I need them to

Talk with your Doctor if you can and see if they feel it could be due to the medications you are taking and if it was then they maybe able to look at adjusting them

Hope you will let us know how you get on :-)

Thank you.

I am also wondering if my symptoms are mainly the meds. My HR shooting up is very strange, but i have been told its a 6-8 month wait for the CT angiogram, and I'm on these for the interim at least. If the CT is fine, then I've been on them for no reason. Sad symptom of our overstretched and underfunded NHS. I paid private for the echo to try and get faster answers, but the CT is over a grand and the nearest to offer private is hundreds of miles away. We are down in deep cornwall.

Hello :-)

I know how you must feel and the thoughts of what if you are taking these meds and you do not need them especially when they are possibly making you feel tired but turn that thought round to if you did not take them and you did need them what could happen

Not sure if you have made them aware that you are also happy to go on their cancellation list as well as on the normal waiting list if you could go at a moments notice it is worth been on that to

I hope you get your Scan soon and I hope the result is that you have been taking the meds for nothing small price to pay if you get good news everything is ok :-) x

Your health professionals have presumably identified conditions that require these medications. Perhaps you should be talking to them? Anyway without more information about your health issues people can only guess why you have been advised to take these meds. For example I take aspirin and Atorvastatin but don't have a fast heart rate. The aspirin is an anti platelet and the Atorvastatin principally to lower cholesterol.

Yes, I understand that. The doctor says they are precautionary while awaiting the CT angiogram. (Apart from the BP meds I've just started). My post was as i wondered if anyone else was in a similar position, potentially fine but taking a whole host of meds. Also, my BP had never been high until a month ago, having been on the other meds for 2 months now, so cant help but wonder if there is a link.

Hi,

I was also put on a cocktail of medication while my symptoms were under investigation. When all results were back and diagnosis confirmed, the medication was reviewed and adjusted accordingly. It's standard procedure as far as I'm aware.

That heart racing and associated feeling sounds like a panic attack. I had a period with those and they can easily be mistaken for a heart attack. I got on top of it through slow breathing and taking control mentally (Google it). The more we worry about having heart issues, the more chance there is of having a panic attack. A vicious circle! Hopefully they dont find anything major with your heart and you can relax a bit 👍

Don't know some of the meds you are taking but my wife has been on 20mg lisinopril for so many years I forget, no noticeable side effects, she also gets bendroflumethiazide to stop water retention and is also on 100mg thyroxine with no side effects. She also gets codeine phosphate 15mg because of back pain in her lower back and hip for osteoarthritis, and has no apparent side effects apart from falling asleep in her chair a fair bit, that probably is her age!

Hi, Yes they like lumping us all together. I have angina and manage it myself. The CT scan showed 2 calcified areas in the LAD artery, after the angiogram I too was put on the same cocktail and within a week felt the same, tired. in fact exhausted, HR down to 43bpm. I stopped all bar 75mg dispersible Aspirin. Bisoprolol needs to be titrated off.

Your symptoms sound more like a conductivity problem or even a panic attack; adrenaline produced first thing would send your HR up. I am surprised medication has started without a scan.

WE must question. Good Luck
