Hello

When I was on 10mg Bisoprolol HR dropped to 33 BPM at night and I was also having 3 second pauses !! Cardiologist said " I think you may be a tad over Beata Blocked and it was reduced to 7.5mg HR around 45 to 50 during the day.

Never checked again after reduction in Bisoprolol by the Cardiologist, but I appear to be doing OK lol

Regards

I'm just wondering what your day heart rate is with Bisoprolol?

My AF nurse told me that Bisoprolol keeps at a level strength for 24hrs, but Metoprolol which I take starts low, reaches a peak of strength and then declines. It sounds like when you take your Bisoprolol at night it doesn't stay at a level strength and drops your heart rate too low. I'm confused now as to whether what she said was right. Unless it drops because you're inactive at night. Your daytime rate looks perfect. It certainly doesn't sound as though you need a higher dose, does it? I'm definitely with your GP and not cardiologist, but what do I know!

It's interesting, let us know the outcome please.

It might be a case of changing the time that you take Bisoprolol so the effect occurs in the day when you are more active and your heart rate is naturally higher. I take mine in the morning and have no issues, but then I'm only on 1.25mg. 😀

Hi Judyjay, I’ve got PAF and now a non sustained ventricular tachycardia. Saying that I’m on 7.5mg bisoprolol which they believe could be aggravating the tachycardia arrhythmia. The electrophysiologist thinks some symptoms I’m getting could be caused by my lower pulse 37/42 at night, it can be 42/48 on some days but it’s usually in the 50’s - 60 at rest in the day. Are you symptomatic? That seems to be the main thing they ask. Fatigue, breathlessness and exhaustion? Plus others.

I’m just over 12 months now after my heart attack so we’re going to try reducing the bisoprolol to 5mg with the aim of, protecting the heart after the heart attack, hopefully it’s still enough keeping the arrhythmia’s dampened down, not aggravating the arrhythmia’s whilst alleviating some unwanted symptoms.

The longer I’ve been on the 7.5 the worse the symptoms have been getting. At first I felt fine.
