Strange smell

Since I started on the drugs below, I seem to have a strange smell constantly in my nostrils. My wife says she can't smell anything.

This strange chemical type smell is apparent in my pee too ( at least to me!)

I'm due to see my HF nurse on Friday, but has anyone ever experienced this?

I was diagnosed with HF just over 2 months ago. I'm responding well to the drugs, swelling gone and breathless gone, I also had a CRT-D device fitted . The HF was caused by a flare up of cardiac sarcoid, its yet to be fully confirmed.

Drugs I'm taking are as below.

Spironolactone 25mg tablets - One Taken Each Day

Sacubitril 24mg / valsartan 26mg tablets - One Taken Twice A Day

Furosemide 40mg tablets - One taken, twice a day

Dapagliflozin 10mg tablets - One taken Daily

Bisoprolol 2.5mg tablets. - one tablet twice a day

I am not on any of the same medications as yourself, but, I do occasionally get what I think you are describing and have also been confused by it. For me it is like a strong ammonia smell and it disappears as quickly as it arrived.

Hopefully I get some answers from the HF nurse, but I suspect she'll refer me to my HF consultant ?

Hi. I got that when I was on antibiotics. I could smell myself and it was like a chemical smell although nobody else said they could smell it. When I stopped the antibiotics it went away. I’m aware that there’s a condition called Phantosmia that can be caused by all sorts of things although I’m not suggesting that what you are smelling doesn’t exist!!

Been taking Dapagliflozin for 3 months now and have the same weird smell going on. I can't place what it is exactly but it's definitely annoying. Any strong smell produces the same result; sort of perfume/tobacco/vinyl type scent.
