I am interested to hear from patients who have received biological aortic valve replacement through minimally invasive surgery and who are seeking to return to participating in sport following the procedure.

Had a mechanical aortic valve through minimal invasive surgery in 2005 age 48, recovery from operation is a lot quicker. Have been active ever since mountain biking and skiing.

I had an Insperis Resilia tissue valve fitted via a min invasive procedure in March 2020.I was back on the golf course in around six weeks. Not long after I was back on my mountain bike and back at the gym.

Two and a bit years on I think I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. It’s like the op never happened! The scar is almost invisible thanks to some bio oil in the early days.

Honest mate. If you were fit and healthy before your AVR you will be like Superman. My only advice is do your homework on what valve type you choose.
