Hi make sure you note down symptoms whenever you press the bottom on the monitor with time, what doing and how felt / what felt. Also if pain, level of pain out of 10. And try and do your typical day regards activities. They will ask you to note these. Good luck

Oops I meant button not bottom, I’m sure you guessed that 🤣

I told them straight my symptoms are irregular and that it may not pick them up if I have a quiet day. They ended up giving me a 5 day continuous ecg one. But I still recorded stuff on my Apple Watch. Printed off the recordings, sent them to my cardiologist who’s now sent me to an electrophysiologist. Don’t let them say everything is fine if it doesn’t pick anything up. 24hrs is a tiny snap shot of time. You know what your feeling. Good luck

I won't assume but I found it hilarious shaving two clean patches in my chest hair bit I'm sure you'll be ok lol

I only got one spare pair of pads so I did make sure I had my shower for the day before putting it on. Are you getting your fitted by the dept or self applied?

Yeah its being fitted by the department.Agree - will shower this morning so i wont need to remove the pads etc.

Do you have to write a diary? Or only if you have symptoms..

Only symptoms, I got given a sheet to record but as my handwriting is so bad I actually downloaded the companion app instead in case I needed to record anything

Typical - had symptoms after i returned the monitor ! So now its a 4 week wait for results but with no symptoms occurring not sure what to do next

Hello. What symptoms are you getting? Have you been diagnosed with anything?

I have been through all this in my mid 20s when i first came across ectopics and full blown panic attacks as a result of 2 weekends of using recreational drug speed. I have never been into anything as such before and it was a one off. But as a result, it triggered a panic disorder that lasted a good year or so.

But i always thought it was my heart. It go investigated and was shown to be enlarged. They put this down to my high fitness level of being in the army and training everyday.... Probably a big mistake to let that go.

Fast forward 10 years and a pretty good lifestyle and being super fit, eating well. (experienced ectopics on and off during these years).

Dec 2019 rushed to hospital with nearly passing out, sweating hot and fluid on lungs. Severe heart failure was the problem. I was a gonnner and my heart was pumping at 12% (normal range is 55-70). Said my goodbyes to my children and family... Urgh. How is this happening at 35!! I was in the gym a few days ago hitting the punch bag and skipping about.

Severely Enlarged heart, was in full blown a fib, and scar on my heart from a previous heart attack! What!! I am a bodyguard, security manager. I worked in iraq for many years in extreme heat. I am the fittest man around or was....

So to take away from this, dont ignore the symptoms. I do believe they are telling us something. I do think the ectopics could be a early warning sign but also can be triggered purely by the mind and anxiety too! Both though.

Keep active!! Walk if you cant run. Really. Even now woth heart failure, i try my best to walk and stay moving. It helps. Eat good too and try not to worry at all., ☺️x

wow what a journey you have been on.

Thank you for sharing your story, inspiring for sure ☺️

Every other day i seem to get what feels like an erratic heart beat at rest - flopping about like a fish. Not got a diagnosis yet as nothing has been captured on an ECG. I think possibly ectopics were caught but ‘ not enough as a cause for concern ‘

My GP asked me what it is i want to gain for basically me going back pestering them.. i said i want answers i want to know whats causing the fluttering so have been referred to speak to a cardiologist.

in reply toBlondie12345

Ah right well yeh they were kind of like that with me in the early days. Ectopic beats get fobbed off. Even if they are pretty regular and unsettling. If you do get symptoms with them, like faintness then they probably would look into it.

I tell you from my experience and i get ectopics all the time. Everyday sometimes now and as many as 6 per minute. Maybe more. Even caught them all on a ecg. The GP even called me and said im going to have a word with your cardiologist... The cardiologist just wrote back to the doc to basically tell him to pipe down, they are fine. Lol so if the cardiologist is happy with them, then nothing i can do.

What they feel like some days skipping beats or extra beat every 3 beats sometimes. Occasionally i would get a cluster of them all at once and it literally feels like my heart stops. Its not beating any more, just quivering, trying to start back up. Then sometimes thuds real hard then back to normal. The amount of times i have said to myself, this is it. This is how it ends... 🤦‍♂️😅

When i was in AFIb it was also similar but all over the place. It would beat 4 beats fast, then skip, then 2 slow, then 6 fast, then big pause... Like that.

Your young and worth investing in as they say. Unfortunately we are at a bad time with the NHS to be sick. Anywaya good luck. All the best
