Breathing machine any advice appreciated

Hi my partner is due home from hospital on Monday after a five way bypass. The doctor has said he’ll need a breathing machine when he gets home. We live in Bulgaria and here we will have to buy one or rent one. Can anybody help me on how long he’ll need it for because buying one is a considerable cost. The language barrier with the doctor makes finding out information difficult. Any information on people’s experiences would be much appreciated 😁😁

Do you know what they mean by a ‘breathing machine’? Is it supplementary oxygen he will need? If so, try Inogen. I bought a portable oxygen concentrator from them and although expensive, it is a great help as the NHS machines are massive and not portable. On holiday for a week in Lanzarote, the same NHS-type machine cost about 500 Euro to rent so they are expensive too. I think having your own is the better option unless it is only needed for a short time. Good luck.

I echo the comment about finding out what is meant by “breathing machine” it could be CPAP as sleep apnoea is often diagnosed in hospital.

If it is CPAP machine have a look at Resmed website. I use one of their machines as supplied by local Sleep Clinic and find that good.

If it is for sleep apnoea then it is something that should be used every night from now on as it counters the stopping breathing that occurs with the condition.

Hi use a Bipap every night due to having Post Polio Syndrome which has affected my breathing muscles. Mine is provided by the NHS but a company called ResMed sells them, they have a website perhaps they could advise you.

I hope you get the help you need.

I'm 58 n almost 8 wks ago I had triple bypass surgery, I live in the USA n I didn't need anything like that. In fact you should b taking deep breaths all the time on ur own to make your lungs start expanding on their own. Here they give you a heart pillow you hold to to protect you, from using your arms like pushing, pulling, they also give you a small plastic breathing thing that you blow into n try to move a little ring upwards... practice deep breaths, holding a pillow,n blowing out. God bless you
