Help managing bradycardia

10 months post STEMI,cardiac arrest, stent. Then 7 months post successful cardio version. Now have PAF, recently diagnosed SVT and broad complex tachycardia awaiting first EP appointment. On bisoprolol 3.75 twice a day (total 7.5). Plus all other heart attack meds. Needs to stay on this dose if possible as not 12 months since HA and it’s giving me some protection from the arrhythmia’s of which the cardiologist said the broad complex tachycardia could be a problem one. I’m not overweight but have recently lost 5/6lbs due to change of diet. I was managing a heart rate of 48/50, as it came up in the 70’s easily . Now it’s going down to 43 in the day and I’ve become symptomatic. awful feeling. It quickly comes up into 80’s if I walk upstairs. But sitting down drops it again leaving me dizzy going from sitting to standing and horrible feeling in chest as well as swimmy headed .

Could the weight loss have made a manageable bradycardia worse?

What can I do to increase pulse rate?

Does drinking more increase pulse?

Even if I put the weight back on I’ll still be a healthy weight so should I put the weight back on?

Any tips please.

My general emails are dodgy at the moment so I’m still hoping I’ll be able to see any replies.

Thank you.

It appears to me that you need proper health professional advice rather than just 'tips' from a few lay people on this forum. I suggest you go see your GP.

Thanks lowerfield but my GP is a dr locum and not much help. I’m tempted to email my cardiologist whilst waiting for EP appointment but even he’s said the arrhythmia’s are out of his speciality 🤷🏼‍♀️

Then given what you have said you should be considering finding a health professional in whom you have confidence to discuss your situation. But remember that people on this forum like me are invariably not medically trained and can usually only comment based on their own experience or something they have read on tinterweb, and that may not necessarily be directly applicable to your own unique medical situation.

Hi Ewloe, I've just read your post like you I'm having similar episodes of bradycardia, tachycardia plus svt and PVCs but you've been through more than I have, hope your ok now.? Nearly 3 years on and I'm still having test currently waiting for my 3 day holter monitor results to see if I need a pacemaker as the cardiologist stopped my bisoprolol back in March as my HR was very low at 33 so he wants to see what it is meds free. Like you my HR jumps up and down all the time from resting at 38 to walking upstairs to 120+ making me feel lightheaded and drained. I'm not overweight reasonably healthy but have no idea why it comes and goes? I was on bisoprolol to ease the pressure on my heart after being diagnosed with lvh,mvp and bradycardia so as a result my HR was around 38 but once dropped to 30 in the ambulance. Since being off the meds my HR has settled to about 40-42 but i get tachy getting up or walking upstairs etc then it drops to 38/40 which is horrible. Im also having high/low BP which i have never suffered with before. Have you questioned your gp about being on bisoprolol or its dose? Or the combination of meds your taking etc?Sometimes being stressed/anxious can play a part with how our body works like when I know I'm having episodes of PVCs....then suddenly I can feel and hear them even more so.

Keep us posted on how things go and good luck.

Best wishes

Taz.
