Thanks yes I have just done this, it’s not detailed records but I wasn’t happy with some of the entires not sure accurate. The app is good for prescriptions too. My GP practice printed something for me with instructions and pass word. When I went on app, it asked me to scan drivers license or other ID with photo and then it scanned my face. Took about a day for it to say all ok and I could access. I think it’s important that our records are accurate. Good luck.

My record has a couple of inaccuracies too. I say one thing and they take it slightly differently and use that instead of what I said. I was there. I know. I expect I'll have to write to someone one day though I am not sure that will do any good. Doctors will trust their notes rather than me I think. Overall though it is very useful
Mine is from Birmingham . I will go to my gp surgery and see what's what. Will let you guys know
The repeat prescription is definitely good, my GP says you have to go into the surgery and request in person! And my chemist is online so I order through app, goes to GP, they authorise and it goes through to online chemist who deliver through Royal Mail. All free. He online chemist also reminds me when running low. Makes life a tad easier. 😊
We have had this facility at our surgery at least for 4 years
Dear SRDS
Yes I use the app and find it really good, our local hospital {Southampton} uses another app ‘My Medical Records’ might be worth looking and seeing if yours does one.
Never be worried about saying something that may or may not have been heard of before on here as thats how it works, there is always new members joining that may have missed the information the first {second third etc} time around and will be great full to hear it.
So sorry to hear that but you are the proof when I keep repeating myself on here, that our loved one suffer as much as we do, I hope that your husband is getting well and I really pray that you will get some peace over this all.
Sending love back to the pair of you and loads of heart felt prayers.
I just log in to the doctor's surgery website and order repeat prescriptions which get sent electronically to the local pharmacy. I can also look at my patient record in full-I have been doing it for a few years.
Hi another option is maybe as last resort is to make a “subject access request” through the Patient Liaison Service (Think that is what it’s called) For the hospital your husband is under. Fairly straight forward if you contact them (find on google) for advice on how to do.
I did this for my hospital records re heart stuff, I’ve onLy been able to get GP records on nhs app unless I’m not looking at it right!!! Takes 30 days to receive, I’m hoping mine will come In time for appointment with cardiologist.
Will try “my medical records” though, would be nice to get them straight away.
I have only been able to get GP records as yet, it seems that my hospital doesn't use the app. It doesn't make sense to me as surely in order to get successful and continuity care the GP needs to be aware of hospital records and should have access therefore if hospital records are on the gp system why aren't they are available to the patient. Hope that makes sense lol I know what I mean.
Thanks for the info. I gave my gp surgery info I can now gain my patient access to order pills and see any appointments I have but it won't let me access my records. I'll ask the surgery, but thanks.
I had the same problem. On the app it says an surgery for access to detailed records. When I asked them they say they can't give me access only the can do that! So I put in a good access request& was sent a complete off copy of my records
I use it as well as it gives me a full record of my history, visits etc. Very useful when I was sent a text by my surgery to say that a referral had been sent to my local
hospital! I didn’t know why, but then read the referral letter ….!
I have tried to access mine. But from what I can gather it’s also up to the GP what you can or cannot see. Hopefully all will catch up - but I suspect not for my generation.
Hi there. Just ask the surgery for permission to access your medical records. I did, and accessed them within a couple of days. They're YOUR records so why shouldn't you be allowed to see them?
Hello Shalvi, I too have downloaded the app but it took about 6 weeks before I had access. I rang my surgery to see why it was taking so long and was told the GP had to go through everything and decide what I was allowed to see! I did manage to get the process done quicker though as originally they said 12 weeks for access.
It is good for test results but I also noticed inaccuracies too even one that a few years ago I raised with my GP and asked for it to be removed. I was told it would be but it is still there. Certainly not detailed medical information but useful for dates etc. and worth having even if just for the test results.
Our surgery uses an online programme called patient access where you can order prescription, read a summary of your record ( I had to query two entries), lists all vaccinations.- it said I'd been offered one I've never even heard of. We used to be able to book appointments but this past 2 y ears the GP has stopped that. My local chemist phones me a week before my prescription is due, I simply go online and request my prescription, it goes straight to the chemist who delivers the following week. There's also space to leave a not for the prescribing GP.
I think these services are only in some parts of England and not at all in Wales, Scotland or N. Ireland. The app varies from country to Country in the UK as we have a Welsh Health Service as do Scotland and N. Ireland.
I use the NHS app also and it is really great for repeat prescriptions. You can also link with another patient once they have given permission. I use the link version for my daughter's record and repeat prescription.
If it’s the same thing like I have, it’s not an app but a link to your GP surgery and your medical history. You can see what childhood vaccinations you’ve had … blood test results.. what current medications you’re on… letters etc but you can’t see hospital records or results… that’s held on another system!
They can also text to your smart phone, message etc…. It’s all rather clever
But as someone said some things aren’t accurate when especially you talk to them on the phone as quite often they are typing up the notes as you are speaking….
Mine said after talking to the doc about the tops of my feet by my toes were a bit puffy said my legs had swollen up 🤷♀️🤦♀️
Mine said I have an anxiety disorder, didn’t do anything to help though. I get anxiety and stress but the call that time was kicking off my cardiology journey and I said chest pain extra is exasperated by anxiety etc not caused by it. They latched onto anxiety. Pretty important to me re stereotype diagnosis of women re must be anxiety. Now I think know why GP dismisses heart related (even though cardiologist is treating me as heart related). But at least I now can see record and can state to Request amendment otherwise wouldn’t have known. It’s a good facility whatever version / type. 😊
Oh by the way 😄 …. There is a sort of NHS app … well again it’s a link.
I’m registered at my hospital (can’t remember lol how it happened) but I had a hospital doctor call me yesterday as planned to discuss my blood test results and he said that he wants me to go for a blood test now and one a week before the next telephone consultation and that he’ll send me a letter with the next date … no sooner had we finished the call when I got a text link from the hospital to read my letter … there already is a set up appointment for the 2nd November… went online for my hospital and booked my next blood test appointment… immediately got a text alert confirming … modern technology eh! Amazing 🤩
