Pester power works....and a little known design fault in men!

Why should pester power just work for kids? 18 days ago I posted that I was getting little decent aftercare and was advised by many of you to do something about it and not wait!Generally I'm not backward at coming forward but was a bit weak and vulnerable...but reinvigorated by your comments I did.! Phone calls to Cardiac rehab and consultants secretaries and audiology departments in which assertiveness was very much to the fore as to why I hadn't heard anything and that I was not happy with my aftercare firstly elicited very defensive excuses from all ...but lo and behold a few days later I had appointments made for Cardiac rehab, hearing assessments and a follow up call from the consultant!

One thing I think should be immediately put in place for men ,as it is a well known medical fact that everyone knows we are not anatomically designed to change duvet covers,is help with this impossible task! ;)

Hi khartoum7. Pleased to hear of your successes with a wide range of departments. Is this anatomical defect also the cause of a lack of ability to Hoover and cook as well? If so, vast quantities of funding should be made immediately available so you poor souls can be "fixed".

Best wishes for a happy Sunday x

Well done getting all of those departments to pay attention to you!

As far as changing duvet covers is concerned, I am a woman with around 45 years of experience of that soul-destroying job, and I'm still learning! Best of luck with your funding application!

haha...thanks..looking forward to my rehab and hopefully hearing aid soon....The battles I've had......and lost with duvet covers! I usually end up inside them! ;)

Don’t know why everyone finds duvet covers difficult.

1. Lay the bare duvet out on the bed.

2. Lay the clean cover inside out on top of it with the reverse facing up.

3. Stand beside the bed and put one arm inside the duvet (gathering it up your arm) and grab the corner of both cover and duvet 4. Hold tightly and turn the duvet cover over the duvet. Get the top tidy on that side and lay it back on the bed.

5. Repeat with the other side.

6. Work the cover down between bed and duvet, do up the bottom.

7. Grab the bottom edge, a quick “wave shake” and job done.

The bed takes the weight and you don’t have to get inside!

Good Luck!

Haha, that's exactly how I change my duvet covers. The trick is turning the duvet cover inside out first.

I think it will be easier just to get inside the duvet cover and lie under the bare duvet...that should do it! ;)

I take them off in the reverse way and wash them inside out!

I'm totally confused...it would be easier if you came and did it for me regularly! ;)

You could start a lucrative business....I can't be the only single man in the country that can't do it!! ;))

Me too! Been doing it like that for years. I can even change a king size one, with a heavy winter quilt in less than 5 mins.

You are just showing off!! ;)

I was only joking, Janma123! I put the cover on inside-out too, but I'm sure lots of us get into a fankle with the exercise occasionally!

Yep. That's the way to do it. Learning this some years ago really changed life for the better!!

It's a man thing! Just told another poster that it's easier just to get inside the cover and lie under the bare duvet! ;)

Oo-er, I'm fine with a king size duvet. Must be my feminine side coming out! 😁

No, just had it drummed into me. We males can learn to deal with these things. Mind you, I have to concentrate! 😂

Well done on several fronts. Telling the medical profession you're not happy is difficult and now we are predisposed to put it down to the pressure they're under. As for duvet covers, I went back to fleece blankets. Much easier.

Now there's an idea I've never thought of...thanks! :)

Blankets, left tucked in along one side, are far more flexible than duvets. Just flip them back into place like you would a duvet.

I might just buy one of those lovely warm fleece blankets and do just that! ;)

There are now duvets which have a printed design on them so I use one with a sheet underneath it. The sheet is a lot easier to wash weekly and just bung the duvet in the washer every now and then…Hey presto! 😉
