Hello all
I will give you details about what has happened to my hubby and please any advise or help is welcomed
My hubby is 71 has never smoked doesn’t drink alcohol eats a healthy diet, he is slim and has always kept fit. Has only been to GP 5 times in 30 years. Has always had low blood pressure and great resting heartbeat.
About 2 months ago he became breathless and very fatigued, we put it down to a Virus or maybe he had caught Omicron and we didn’t know and maybe these symptoms were as a result of Long Covid.
End of last week he got worse so I made appointment to see GP, he did urgent bloods and he has a chest X-ray on Thursday coming. On Thursday last week the GP phoned and said that the special blood test he did showed my husband was suffering from heart failure and severe anaemia I took the call as hubby is partially deaf, to say I was shocked distraught and devastated is an understatement. He started him straight away on water tablets and wants to wait for X-ray to see where we go from there, he did say more meds would be needed and I presume a referral to cardiologist.
I have stayed calm for my husbands sake but I’m terrified he is my whole world I absolutely adore him. What I need to understand is how did this happen ? and where do we go from here. The GP is arranging 3 vitamin b12 injections next week for the anaemia which once they work will help him feel a bit better.
Also what’s the prognosis for someone living with heart failure.
Any help or similar experiences would help me to understand and get my head around the situation.
Thank you
