String Quiz

I have received a few messages asking me to do a String Quiz following some debate about the length of a piece earlier today. Don't worry no String Theory!

1. How long is a piece of string? Marks will be given do originality and out-of-the-box thinking. Marks will be deducted for comments like "Twice the length of half the length of the string"

2. How many words of two or more letters can you make from the word "string"? Note - they must be in the Oxford English Dictionary.

3. Complete the following knot names.

r__f

b_w____

c__v_ h___h

f_g___ __g__

_v__h___

____k__'_ __t__

__g___y'___'_ _i___

Reef, bowline, clove hitch, figure of eight, overhand, that's all I learnt on my sailing course.27 words.

How long? 4.3 cm shorter than you need.

Rumour has it that an elderly relative of a friend had a bag labelled "Bits of string not long enough to be any use"

I haven't got any string. Can I use wool instead?!

As long as you specify type and needles. That all I remember about knitting although my mum did have a collection of knitting patterns. It was probably better than time spent on FaceAche!
