Hello! Has any of you ever done a cardioversion to treat tachycardia? Is it painful? Does it usually work? Maybe I will have the procedure tomorrow, and I am a little worried.

I had a cardio version and it worked but sadly my heart rate went sky high, but it might work for you everyone is different.

Hi, I've had 2 for Afib, they are done under a general so you won't feel a thing. The areas that are in contact with the paddles may well be a bit sore for a couple of days but use a good soothing cream, good luck

Hi. I had one in February under general anaesthetic. The most painful part was the anaesthetic going in but it lasted only seconds. I knew nothing about the procedure itself as I was asleep and it was over very quickly. I was a little bit itchy where the paddles had been but the hospital gave me cream for my skin and antihistamine. So far I’ve remained in sinus rhythm since although I’m taking beta blockers to help this. It’s really nothing to worry about and I’m sure that you will be absolutely fine.. I hope all goes well for you.

Hi, my husband had one because after open heart surgery he went into AF which wouldn’t settle with repeated courses of Amiodarone. He was so so anxious beforehand, sedated for the procedure, woke up asking when they were doing it to be told it was done and it worked beautifully. The worst bit is thinking about it.
