Just recently usually after eating my evening meal, my pulse rate goes up and it feels to me like it's fluttering/quite fast. It seems to continue most of the evening and when I get to bed I find it difficult to get to sleep. It has usually calmed down by the morning, but twice when I've woken up in the morning this fast/ectopic beat is still there and only calms down when I've taken my beta blockers. Like some people, it makes me anxious when my heart keeps racing. BP seems ok, doesn't really vary, averages around 123/79.
I'm not eating anything different, nor am I having large meals or spicy food.
Thanks for your time, Lily.

I get that usually after hi GI foods like rice or potatoes or sugar. as I had diabetes during pregnancy. Following a low GI and balanced meal helps. Alcohol is the worse so try and avoid.
I've had this for years.Actually a raised heartbeat after a meal is normal but palpitations isn't. It sounds like you need to talk to your GP about this and have a few tests.Probably nothing to worry about but best to check.I had a three day ECG which found periods of tachycardia and also some ectopics and brief periods of arrhythmia. At the moment it's nothing to worry about but I was glad to be checked out.
Yes, here too, but often after lunch rather than any other meals! Now getting rapid pulse sometimes when about to fall asleep which takes a while to settle, so messes up the nights sleep.
It could be that your heart beats faster after a meal because your body is digesting food, however if it keeps up like yours I would seek medical help.
I had episodes of them for a couple of yrs, I wasn’t able to take beta blockers and even if I had I wouldn’t have anyway.I occasionally get them but it’s certain times of the month I won’t take HRT.
Yes this is definitely me! Mostly after every meal apart from breakfast. They carry on late in to the evening and if I’m lucky will stop at bedtime. I’ve been prescribed beta blockers and take as and when but they don’t stop them completely. I am trying to cope with them but they do make me worry. I’ve made all the lifestyle changes in the meantime. I am waiting for a 48 hr ECG (which I am paying for as the waiting list is hideous) but I’ve also monitored them in my Apple Watch and decided they are PAC’s. I am 55 and have been fit and healthy for years so I am convinced this has everything to do with hormones. If the ECG comes back with no unhealthy heart issues then I am going to ask for HRT as I have never taken anything up till now and when I really think about it I have a number of symptoms and have just put up with them.
I find that if I don’t eat regularly or miss a daytime meal then it can cause an irregular heartbeat. More often than not it will re-occur in the early hours of the morning. Any alcohol is always a trigger.
Well, here I go again. I clicked on reply under MsSuzuki at the very top, the first post. Appears that it replies to you on every post I make My apologies.
