This might sound a daft question but I'm going to ask anyway lol I had a HA and stent fitted in Aug 21 and my friends want to take me for a pamper day but I'm not sure about having a massage will it be ok to have one has anyone had one and have been fine? Im probably worrying over nothing but just want some reassurance
Thanks in advance

No question is a daft question and what lovely friends you have wanting to take you for a pamper day , is there room for another one to
You go for it , will be so good for and you deserve it
I cannot personally see why it would harm you but just before mention it , I am sure they have had many go for a pamper day that has had a heart attack and stents and know if they need to be a little more gentler or not
Let us know how it goes and how wonderful you feel once you have been pampered
I am sure the gentle massages will be fine but check out the oils they use first.
Whatever you do don't have the Thai massage, I had one early last year and she walked all over my back, I liked the hot stone massage too, but again check the oils first!!
I think I'll have to book another (gentle) one soon they can be so relaxing!!
Thank you for the replies I am lucky enough to have 2 good friends that have really had my back so should be me treating them 😊 I will look forward to and enjoy it thanks x
I've got 6 stents after my HA and have had a 75 minute hot stone massage this week in Thailand and am still alive, it was wonderful!
Seriously though, might be worth checking with your doctor if you are worried. if you have had recent open heart surgery or stents it might not be such a good idea.
Most reputable companies will give you a healt questionnaire to fill in befire a massage so you can put in anything about your HA and worries then.
Hi. Befoe my heart attack and stent i had monthly deep tissue back massages. My therapist said not allowed for 6months afterwards and now she is just a bit more gentle. As long as you tell them before they start and any medication you're on will be fine. Enjoy!! X
My husband asked his Dr if he could have a massage, the Dr laughed and asked what sort of massage was he having!!😳🤣 On a more serious note, I would ask your medical team as there could be circulation issues
I had a regular back massage booked for 3 days after my first stent was fitted and the doctor said that was fine but tell them to avoid too much pressure around the heart.I also warn them each time that I am on blood-thinners and will probably bruise. I was having deep-tissue massage for the RSI in my shoulders, which the GP had been happy to blame for my chest pains. The first session of that bruised so badly I decided to avoid it in future.
Dear sally383
The benefits must surely outweigh your worries, please enjoy your pampering time and having a loving friendship around you……….sounds the best medication ever to me {maybe slip a glass of something in as well?}
