Been on bisoprolol for 7weeks. Some side effects have gone still feeling tired/flat but a few days ago had tummy upset first thing in morning. Felt like IBS...has anyone had a similar experience? I added kiwi fruit to my diet and slice banana on cereal but read that they have potassium and Biso also adds to potassium. Have stopped that now . Would have thought the tummy trouble would have started as soon as I start ed the Biso... seems it's a late start, any anecdotal experience greatly appreciated.

Stomach upset and bisoprolol.
Hi, sorry you’re still struggling with feeling tired/flat because of bisoprolol. (Hope there’s a possibility of treatment being changed for you since it’s gone on for quite a while ).
Like you , I’d have thought if these new symptoms were caused by bisoprolol, probably it would have started sooner .
I hope that settles for you soon too.
Nina
Thank you Nina will update... Biso the gift that keeps on giving. !!
Biso, seems to get such bad press , so there is built in anxiety when first prescribed , I take 15 gms of Biso a day , With Digoxin and Bumetanide and blood thinner .
For 15 yrs I worked all day , so I get tired but I am old , glass of wine in the evenings , I sleep like a log ….I am going to start a Be Kind to Biso club ….try to put all the comments you read out of your head and concentrate on the heart saving abilities of Bisoprol.
Hello
I take Bisoprolol not sure if they upset my stomach I do feel flat though but then with the other meds I take it can be hard to tell which one is affecting you
Some will say if a medication is going to give you side effects it will in the first couple of weeks
I have always disagreed with this as I have found I can take medications for a long time and then all of a sudden it is like my body says right had enough now and I get side effects
I once was talking on here and I mentioned a med I had been taking a while and now I thought I was getting side effects
Someone replied their Doctor explained their theory was this can happen
To imagine a bucket tripping slowly water into it and then after months or even longer it eventually fills and overflows
This is how side effects can be for some slowly building up over a long period of time till all of a sudden they overflow and can not tolerate them
This sounded just like what has happened to me in the past and even sometimes now and I was relieved to know there was one Doctor out there that was more opened minded you do not always have to have side effects straight away they can come on over a period of time ( not sure if I am making any sense with my explanation )
If you are not settling on them I would go back to the Doctors , I know we need these medications but there are different ones they can try and even though I think you may have tried others I would still keep pushing till I found one to suit me
You could give it another couple of weeks or so to see if things improve or ask now but I do hope you manage to get it sorted out as side effects are no fun at all
Let us know how you get on x
Thank you...that does make sense, if you're a slow metabolizer especially. Seems odd that I get it now and tum upsets are on the side effects list. The worrying side effects have gone like faint feeling, head surges, etc but I think it could be s delayed possible build up of meds. I'm cutting down as got holter monitor on Monday. Taking half 1.25 . My cardiologist wants me to stop totally while on monitor but dread adrenaline surge causing palps. Will update. Really appreciate your input this is why this forum is so helpful as docs don't have experience of these meds.
I always think the same when Doctors are prescribing these meds Yes we need them but do they realise how they can make some of us feel regarding side effects
I onced said that to my Doctor actually when she was prescribing yet something else I was on so many meds I said I would like you to take this lot to see how you feel and to be honest she did do a little laugh as if she knew I had a point
Good luck I hope everything goes ok x
Hi Bit late to this one.
I was put on omeprazole as I was on a lot of other meds, to protect my stomach, and also I had complained to gp that when in Afib I had awful symptoms of trapped wind in my chest and was taking lots of gaviscon and other meds with not much relief. I only took it an hour or so before my evening meal instead of twice a day as I didn’t really like taking it on reading up about it.
After about eighteen months I started getting crippling stomach cramps and bad runs to the point I was getting nervous of going out.
I blamed it on my magnesium, though it is mag taurate, as magnesium has that reputation, it did not stop, stopping artificial sweeteners and a couple of other things did not work either.
I stopped taking omeprazole and the symptoms eased off over about a fortnight.
So eighteen months! I would not have thought it.
When I went to my GP Novemberish complaining of short of breath and chest aching after my evening meal, I told her I’d had to stop the omeprazole and how long it had taken to affect me.
She wanted to rule out reflux for the chest pain so has prescribed lansoprazole and things have definitely improved with the reflux but only been on them since Nov.
She actually said that after eighteen months that would just not happen! 🤷🏻♀️
Still get episodes of chest pain after overdoing things but not regularly now.
Still having to go to cardiologist again as mild mitral regurgitation has gone to severe on my latest echo, just waiting for an appointment to see what’s going on 😔
Sorry for sending you an essay lol 😊
Very interesting post from BeKind28.

Make sure you have a full cereal (preferably weetabix) or toast on your stomach before taking the Bisoprolol with water. This will help you.
Thank you...I take mine at 630 so will eat a snack. Did so yesterday but still a bit 'gottago' on s morning. Having been really slow transit for years it's a big change, have read all BB s can cause tum issues. I think we have to do a damage limitation check and see what are the least yuk side effects.
