Oh and it can cause strokes!!
Keep doing what you are doing.
Is this the telephone consultation 'tick box' exercise to artificially reduce the waiting lists?

I would change my cardiologist, that’s shocking saying that about AF, you have more chance of having a stroke, so you should be on medication and have check ups at the hospital. Good luck and hopefully you will be fine living with it .
When I was diagnosed last August in A&E they decided on the basis of 13 hours observation that I was in permanent AF, and asymptomatic. During the next couple of paramedic visits, and any time I tried to seek advice, I was always asked "What does your cardiologist say?" My answer had to be "I don't have one." When this was mentioned to a GP she said people in permanent AF who were asymptomatic were managed by the GP. Fast forward to a different GP, who told me I was in permanent AF. When I queried that, I had an ECG at the surgery which showed it wasn't permanent and a cardiologist recommended a 24 holter monitor and an echo. Had both by the end of October and by the end of January I was tired of waiting so rang the secretary. He hadn't had the reports. He passed my details on to 2 of his colleagues in order for me to be seen at the AF clinic, but I'm still waiting. I suppose I will need to make another phone call, in case that has been lost as well.
I've had 2 bouts of AF which have been picked up by my bedside monitor - had CA 3 yrs ago and ICD fitted. They put me on Rivaroxaban (blood thinner) to compensate for possible blood clots and increased my Bisoprolol from 5 to 7.5mg, have also had 2 cardioversions and at the moment my heart rhythm is fine. If they haven't put you on new meds you need to be positive in your demands, they can't leave you with nothing - good luck
Very unprofessional behaviour. Either tell him off or find another cardiologist. You can report this kind of behaviour to PALS.
