I spent 8 hours in A&E yesterday after experiencing mild chest pains. Initially I was afraid it might be a heart attack but that was ruled out after blood test, ECG and chest x-ray. Finally I saw a consultant who thinks I was experiencing angina when exerting myself. Six years ago when my dilated cardiomyopathy was diagnosed my angiogram showed all my arteries to be normal. Since then I have really been looking after myself with a good diet and regular exercise and I weigh only 68kg. So the idea that I have congested arteries causing angina is a bit hard to believe and I am wondering if you can get angina symptoms from heart failure.
(I should have asked the consultant this yesterday but I was exhausted, hungry and anxious and had only a few minutes with him. A&E was so busy with 100 odd people waiting at times and the wait just for initial triage was over 4 hours at one point. Waiting facilities were utterly inadequate and unsafe from a Covid point of view with poor ventilation, no social distancing and clinically vulnerable people packed into a confined space with some patients not wearing masks properly or at all. Lots of coughing and sneezing... The staff were all kind, caring and doing their best, but they were just overwhelmed. )
