Neck Scan

I had a double bypass in 2017, I've been having a fair few angina attacks since, I felt neglected by the Dr I was having appointments with as he just kept saying carry on with the medication, so complained to the Consultant who said he would get me to have an Echo an MRI and Angiogram, although there is enough blood running to the heart it shows that one of the arteries has got more diseased. So in my JCC today I have been advised the best way forward is another bypass. Then I got a phonecall this afternoon from the hospital to book me in for a neck scan.... why would I need a neck scan?? πŸ€”

Hello :-)

I am sorry to hear you may need another Bypass but glad you kept pushing as you knew things were not right and will be able to now get it sorted

I had a triple Bypass and I had a neck scan and I believe it is to see how well blood flows in your veins in the neck as if it was not good it could put people at more risk of a stroke when having the op but I am sure yours will be fine and it sounds like they are doing all the tests on preparation of the op which again is a positive sign they will be doing it soon

Please let us know how you get on :-) x

Hello :-)

Will look forward to hearing how well you are doing after your op :-)

I am struggling a little but think that is mainly to do with my confidence and anxiety

Thank you very much for asking :-) x

Though I have a different heart problem, I also had two neck scans and was told this was to check blood flow and to make sure there is no narrowing of blood vessels or blockages so that surgery will be as safe as it can be. Hope all turns out well for you

To check your carotid arteries and the blood flow to your brain.

Just to check there's no blockage in your neck artery. I recently had an echo scan and they did right up my neck and down my abdomen.
