3 years ago my wife, then 72, started suffering labyrinthitis symptoms, but eventually, after a brain MRI, this was diagnosed as Meniere's disease. However, Meniere's meds weren't effective and she started suffering rapid weight loss. After 2 recent severe attacks resulting in hospitalisation, we were referred to a gastro enterologist consultant because of the baffling weight loss. During his examination he heard an odd heart rhythm and referred her to a cardiologist who, after an echocardiogram, strongly suspected Cardiac amyloidosis (irregular proteins in the organs). She has more scans and tests scheduled, but meanwhile has anyone any experience, help or treatment advice for this potentially dangerous condition?

Hello and welcome to the forum!
I am afraid that I cannot offer any advice. However, if you enter "amyloidosis" as a search term you will find a number of previous posts on the subject. It may also be worth having a chat with the BHF nurses on 0300 330 3311. The Helpline is open weekdays 9am to 5pm.
