Fitness/Snowdon climb

Hi, I was diagnosed with lvsd in 2020. I'm asymptomatic, cause unknown and it's improved ef47% . I'm back at the gym. I really want to go up Snowdon. Has anyone achieved this if so what preparations did you do beforehand. If I do I would go with a guided walking group and of course on the easiest route. Thanks x

Thanks for the information that wasunexpected. I did moel famau in flint a few weeks ago which I could do no problem but this time was a little harder plus I had to take the moderate route and it's only a hill!(I have asthma and covid hasn't helped) However it was made worse as I came down loggerheads way which took a lot longer to get back down🙈 very sore leg. I've emailed the company who are aware and are first aid trained. I will continue my training and hope I reach my goal as I'll be doing it to raise money for the bhf and also for me as an achievement 😊

I have walked up Snowdon many times in my youth from various directions, from what I remember it's is just a long steady walk, and there's the added advantage of a train trip down if needed!Being prepared is the main thing as conditions can change, as on all mountains and hills - the last time I went up by train it was roasting hot down in Llanberis and a thick cold fog on the top.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your reply! ☺️ The train could be an option for me I'll have a good think about that. I'll continue to prepare and take on board you kind advice 😊. Would that be the miners track up which is the steady walk up?.

Thanks ☺️

The Llanberis Path is the longest but ‘easiest’ and most used in Summer as it heads up from Llanberis itself.

Dear Babsben

Thank you! ❤️ I will definitely seek advice, and of course I will keep you posted. I'm thinking around the end of august which gives me plenty of time to prepare. X

Fantastic, something to really look forward to

Hi

I planned to complete the Llanberis route last year to celebrate my 1 year post OHS, unfortunately it had to be delayed due to not been able to guarantee a train seat down. You can't buy a return ticket and just use the downward seat sadly. You can queue for any seats, not used but there are no guarantees of getting one. That's at the 3/4 point/Station.

I believe the Llanberis route return distance is about 19 miles and at the time I wasn't confident in my stamina levels for the downward part. 2022 will be my year 🤞, all being well.

Like a previous reply just prepare fully and take it easy as you go.......

ATB to you.
