An EF of 50 is good. I was told the optimum is about 55%. About the scarring though, your GP or cardiologist, who have your records, would be best placed to advise you. Or have a chat with the BHF nurses.I hope you get a good resolution soon.
Do take advice from a Dr you trust. Get a clear picture of any damage and what to expect.I hope you can be reassured that there is a good life to be had with ‘small scarring’, especially if we can put our experience to good use…,..reviewing our life style (Smoking, weigh and diet, exercise, drinking, stress………) as most of us can improve one or more of these!
Do get your employer to agree to you attending a rehab course (if it’s offered). The best thing so many of us here have done, and it really helps with those changes.
Be good to hear how you get on.
Dear Terrywill12
So sorry that your diagnosis has made your anxiety worse.
Your Cardiologist will be able to put your mind at rest because as far as I can tell that your Ejection Fraction of 50% is just within the normal range.
Many on here live happily with mild scaring to the heart, again this is something your Cardiologist/heart team can reassure you about.
You have to remember that I am not medically trained by for example I have an Ejection Fraction of 30% with moderate scaring and I’m twice your age.
I’m still here and intend to be for as long as possible.
