After 25 years problem free after avr and vsd on 1996, my latest review in June showed a reduced EF to 41% and gradient change across valve. Consultant said he would keep an eye on it. Had MRI in September and have phone review on 28th Jan (put back, originally 10th Dec). If it was very serious, do people think I would have been notified earlier?

Hello Seaguller. It’s always an anxious time when you’re waiting for results to be explained together with the next steps - which can be as simple as review in x months. An EF of 41% in itself isn’t too bad (normal is 55-60%) and it has to be taken in the context of the overall picture of your health, which is the cardiologist’s job. Try not to worry too much until you have your appointment! Easy to say and hard to do I know. In the meantime, write down any questions you think of and have notes about how you are day to day with you, including BP and heart rate if you can check them at home.
