Beta blockers poor sleep

Has anyone experienced poor sleep patterns with beta blockers? My mum just been diagnosed with heart failure and Atrial Fibrillation. Has been on bisoprolol and now on nebivilol. She's also on digoxin. Sometimes she cannot sleep at all at night, then gets anxious and confused. She had not been like this before. Otherwise she is making excellent progress. It's just the sleep issue.

Hi, yes I also suffer from poor sleep since taking beta blockers. I now take it at bed time which has helped and if I have a really poor night I go to bed in the afternoon. I use my kindle at night to read and try my best not to get stressed about it. Good Luck.

Thankyou, that is interesting that you say about taking it at night. That might be worth a try as when she takes it in the morning she usually goes straight to sleep.

I hope it helps, I used to take mine at 6pm and spent the whole evening asleep.

Hi, I am in atrial fibrillation (over 20years) and take digoxin. and warfarin. I'm sorry to say I can't remember the last time I had an uninterrupted nights sleep. I do sleep for an hour or two during the day when I'm at home. It's very frustrating but not a lot one can do. Hoping to have TP procedure on my left atrial valve in the not too distant future which might help the sleep issue. I hope your mother can relax a bit and not worry too much.

Yes, my mum was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation last November, but also now found to have floppy mitral valve which has led to heart failure. It's all happened in last few months. She is 85. The hospital stay really affected her mentally. Hopefully time will help her settle, and she does catch up in the day. I think the digoxin makes her tired. Good luck with the the procedure, hopefully will be done soon.

Thankyou
