What does this mean

Hi there could anyone tell me what does moderate stenosis in the mid LAD and proximal circumflex coronary arteries mean please?

Been getting chest pain that’s different from the stabbing pain I saw the doctor about originally. Now it feels like squeezing pain that takes my breath away. Lasts around 20-30 seconds and then I have a dull pain that remains. Been like this for about a week now. Got ct results back today and I’m wondering if this chest pain relates to the diagnosis??

Thank you

😊😊

Hello,

Stenosis means narrowing,

Moderate means that narrowing has been detected but is not immediately seen as an urgent issue.

There are two coronary arteries where issues have been detected, the left anterior descending (LAD) which runs down the front of the heart and the left circumflex (LCX) which runs to the side and round the back of the heart. These arteries feed the heart muscle so it's important they don't get blocked.

Proximal means close to the beginning of where those arteries branch off from the aorta.

So they've detected narrowing in two heart arteries close to the aorta.

It is possible that the narrowing is causing angina pain and that is what you are experiencing.

But we aren't doctors here and you need to talk to the people already treating you about your symptoms right away if you haven't already and what they plan to do about it. Women can experience heart pain differently from men so please do tell them about what you are experiencing.

Hi firstlight40, thank you so much for such a well explained description. I understand now what’s going on and can now discuss with the cardiologist with confidence on what further action/ consequences of diet etc need to be taken into consideration.
