Gastritis & Duodentitis pain

Hello people. My 2nd post. Not sure where to turn to. Had a NSTEMI end of october. Shortness of breath and epigastric pain which an endoscopy in December found non erosive Gastritis and Duodentitis. No helibactor pylori. Was upped my usual heart meds for omeprazole to 40mg in the morning. Only been 3 weeks since taking but I've had horrendous pain since Xmas day up til now. I'm glued to a hot water. Out of desperation spoke to out of hours GP who prescribed Famotidine 20mg twice a day. I've no appetite and haven't moved for days. I should be worried about my heart but thus pain is a killer. Any suggestions? Help 😢

Two days ago I had the sudden onset of pain in my RHS upper back. This eventually moved to the top of my abdomen just below my sternum. At times it gave a burning sensation in my chest.

The pain was so bad that I could not sleep lying down and had to sit up all night.

My BP went from normally low to high and I felt nauseous.

I took ibuprofen as it is an anti inflammatory. Paracetamol and Buscopan had no effect.

It has only now subsided somewhat.

Does this sound like your symptoms?

Take care.

Hello Palpman. My pain is more towards the left side under my ribs. Quite sharp. Sometimes I feel a sharp pain under my left armpit too. I hope your pain subsides and you feel better. I hope I do too. I sent another message to my GP surgery. Let's see?

On reading your reply, yes the symptoms are similar.

It's a pain. I know.

It can be one of many things.

I'm concerned it may be my pancreas as it is just above the stomach and towards the back. Most of the pancreas is on top and more towards the LHS.

I assume you are on aspirin. That's what did me. I had constant bouts of upper stomach pain which was truly unbearable.. Unfortunately that type of pain was the only sign of my heart attack 3 years ago so I got in a panic every time. I'm allergic to PPIs so was given famotidine but i'm still haveing to double the dose at time. GP eventually changed me to an enteric coated aspirin that doesn't dissolve until it gets into the bowel and I've been a lot better.

Yes I am. Gp prescribed Famotidine too but pain is a killer. Got so bad my husband called an ambulance and I'm sitting in A&E waiting to be seen. The parameducs gave me iv paracetamol.. Waiting game now. I'm so scared

So after hanging around in A&E a doctor just took me aside and had a quick feel of my abdomen and explained about having a bland diet and gulp down Gaviscon before I eat anything and was packed off home. And don't take the Famotidine. The paramedics gave me IV paracetamol. It did help. Still had no appetite but had to eat a few spoonfuls of cornflakes to take my daily meds with. Lost over a stone in weight in a month.

Spoke with the GP who prescribed Paracetamol + Codeine to take for the pain. Been on them now for 4 days now. Pain a little better but it's only masking the underlying problem. Gp arranged a CT scan of the abdomen which I had on Friday and have to wait for the results now. Also had a blood test too. Now a waiting game...

Won't be having my 1st cardiac telephone appointment for another few months since my discharge after my heart attack. Is this normal? Who else is there to turn to? Will start cardiac Rehab end of January.

I don't think I can take this pain much longer. I can't function and have neglected my poor family 😥

Didn't they even x ray you for gallstones? I hope the CT results are quick. Christmas and staff shortages have slowed everything down. I had a heart echo in NOvember and no results yet. I know what constant pain can do. I've had chronic spinal pain for 30 years but two weeks ago it got so bad I can only lie down and it's affected my bladder; Pain at waist level and tail bone is now unbearable but GP has to wait for blood test results before he can even refer me to a neurosurgeon; something that was promised back in October. GP saw me quickly but even he has to wait.

Hi Qualipop.I didn't even get a named wristband. The paramedics handed me over and left. I waited for hours and was called.

No X rays, no nothing. Just a quick chat and goodbye.

I had the same horrendous pain I had when I went into A&E with my heart attack..

I'm worried about taking all this paracetamol and codeine.

I pray you get sorted out quickly too my lovely x

Well don't hesitate to ring 999 again if it's that bad and demand a troponin test.

Had an endoscopy a month after my heart attack which showed I had gastritis & Duodentitis. Given omeprazole. Was on that for 4 weeks and should have cleared hence my GP prescribing paracetamol +codeine for the pain til bloods and ct results back. The pain is definitely not heart related..Hoping the CT scan will show something
