Heat causes your heart to work harder so can kick off AFBut I'm not sure how hot you are talking.
The rest of your story is quite complex. I would guess based on your history you can assume it's heat. You would have to discuss with your dr.
Thank you 🙂
Hi Babssugar.I too have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (with obstruction).
Only diagnosed after I had silent heart attack back in summer 2019 and 3 stents inserted.
My HCM is now managed with a vast cocktail of medications and by avoiding stress and over exertion.
I have learnt to pace myself accordingly.
Heat, amongst things, I believe, can definitely bring on AF.
Your heart has to work double time in extreme temperatures.
I lived oversea's in a very hot climate, up until 2 years ago and had many blue-lighted trips to the local A&E.
I ended up buying a strong a/c unit, which was fine as long as I remained indoors . .
What sort of temperature are you referring to ?
I also had a TIA oversea's, again not something to be recommended, hence my reluctant, but necessary return to freezing Blighty, along with my air conditioning unit, which I've had installed, just in case of a heatwave . . . and I'm using it now for heating as it's very efficient.
Take care 🙏🙏
My own experience is that during the short heatwaves we had in the summer, I had fairly frequent AF episodes. Since the weather has got cooler, I have only had a few. It may be coincidence, I don't know. I was only diagnosed a few months ago, so I'm keeping a note of anything I think may have contributed, and trying to avoid it. Possible culprits so far could be alcohol and chocolate.
