Started Uniphyllin a couple of days ago. Cardiologist put me on this because I am not responding to the 'many' drugs I take for suspected microvascular angina and this is the last drug he can suggest to help alleviate my chest pain. My heart feels like I am running a race and I'm quite jittery. To those of you who take this drug and had the same reaction, did it calm down after a while and stop or did you have to stop taking the drug? Thanks.

Hi Divasong,
Uniphyllin is usually used to treat lung conditions.
It is being used " off" label.
I was presumed incorrectly by a very eminent Cardiologist at a prestigious south London hospital to have Microvascular angina orginally 9 years ago.
I was prescribed imipramine and Uniphyllum. Both along with beta blockers made me much worse. I ended up in CCU.
I learned later beta blockers are contraindicated if you have coronary vasospasms.
I asked for a second opinion and further testing. My diagnosis of vasospastic angina was confirmed by an angiogram with acetylcholine by another Cardiologist.
I suggest you ask to have the appropriate testing to determine whether you have Microvascular dysfunction or coronary vasospasms.
These tests are being carried out at St Thomas's hospital, London.
