Due to have angioplasty in 10 days. I have a blocked LAD but my heart has done 2 by passes, to help, but they haven’t quite done the job. Exercise test showed st depression. Cardiologist is going to try and poke a way through, and stent the LAD. Anyone had anything similar.

Angioplasty
Similar to an LAD stent, or similar to an angioplasty after bypasses?
I guess I would say that it's a positive sign that your cardiologist thinks he might be able to open up the LAD with angioplasty rather than open-heart surgery. If you've never had a stent before it's a procedure rather than surgery, takes less than an hour plus prep and recovery time.
Hello
I have had bypass surgery and stents in a bypassed artery LAD when they did the bypass it appears they missed an offshoot which was stented 3 years after original OHS.
My RCA is 100% blocked but it is felt it isn't worth the risk to try to open it i.e. when the Surgeon looked at it he said nothing to bypass as that piece of my heart is just dead muscle.
My Cardiologist did say if I started to experience symptoms like Angina, Breathlessness, Tiredness he would look at it again as Risk v Reward does change !!
Well it has started again with Left Arm Soreness and Breathless episodes when walking. I have started to use GTN again 1st time in 3 years and GP has arranged for Cardiology to Call me on the 4th November to discuss as she said you don't need tests they have enough pictures of your Heart inside and out lol
A little complicated as I have Moderate Heart Failure and Breathless maybe coming from that !!
In 3 years techniques have improved and they can open an Artery by going through Groin and Wrist at the same time. I think the risk comes from a bit flying off and causing a clot so sure that is why it's a Risk v Reward scenario.
Intervention Cardiologist who looks at mine is a renowned leader is Angioplasty Intervention so if he says Reward beats Risk I will go for it.
