Exercise and PVC's

I had a heart attack, caused by a clot according to my cardiologist albeit I have clear coronary arteries and no sign of CAD in the main arteries. I do have slight disease in one of the minor arteries but it is too small to stent and my treatment is medication only. Prior to heart attack I was exercising for 1-2 hours 5 times a week on an eliptical stepping machine and playing golf with no issues. About 3-4 weeks after the event, I began walking for exercise and it was tough at the beginning and then got better when I stopped taking Bisoprolol. I upped the exercise to the eliptical machine a couple of weeks ago and initially it was going ok and I was up to around an hour. However, in the last week I have struggled to do even 30 mins as the PVC's were making me feel ill and I had to stop. I've also noticed slight chest pain at night and during the exercise. Can anyone suggest what this could be and whether it could be developing into angina and whether I need medication for that?

I think you should ask your doctor or cardiologist. We cannot give medical advice as we are not qualified. Give them a call.

I’d back up Andyman. Any change like this is important. I’d call your GP. Mine reacts quickly, once they note my heart history. My experience is that they are usually concerned about any new angina, but particularly angina that occurs at rest.

You posted a comment in another thread saying you thought you had Vasospastic angina. You also asked what the treatment was for microvascular and vasospastic angina.

My advice to you then was to speak to a Cardiologist.

I agree with Andyman and Kristin you need to discuss your symptoms with your GP or Cardiologist.

Something similar happened to me. After stopping the Bisoprolol on cardiologist's advice, after exercise, I'm getting palpitations and feel ill. Cardiologist thinks it may be an arrythmia possible AF. A nurse taking my pulse noticed that it was irregular, but they could not see any arrhythmia on an ecg. So I'm wearing a monitor for 3 days.

Cardiologist also suggested a Kardia mobile which takes an ECG whenever you use it (i.e. when you feel ill). It then sends the data to a smartphone. The smartphone app produces a report which you can email to the cardiologist which the he can analyse

It can diagnose AF and persistent ectopic beats etc. Using it I have found both ectopics and AF. I can't understand the graphical output, but hopefully the cardiologist can.

You really do need to see a cardiologist. Stopping the BS allows your heart to beat faster. My resting heartbeat went from 60 to 75-80 when I stopped the BS. With exercise that increases a lot. Normally after an MI they recommend a beta blocker for something like a year or more to allow the heart to recover from the MI

Thanks for the reply Richard. I have asked to see a cardiologist only to be told that he is happy with my initial diagnosis and to keep taking the medication. When I said to his secretary that I think there may be something else wrong as I was getting worse and not better, she said there are no appointments! I said I was prepared to pay on a private basis and she said there are still no appointments available.

My resting heartbeat is in the 50's and can go into the 40's and therefore I don't need beta blockers. When I was in hospital and hooked up to the monitors the alarm would regularly go off when I was falling asleep as my heartbeat was going below 45 bpm. That's why they won't prescribe anything that slows the heart down. My heart very rarely beats really fast even during exercise. I do however, get irregular rhythm and ectopic beats which get worse the longer I exercise and when I stop.
