Hi Tiny. I think that information may apply in the first 12 weeks, while your device is settling in. My ICD is now over 3 years old. Although I don't swim, I regularly do exercises (including cardiac rehab exercises) which include front crawl and backstroke type movements. Rehab will normally tell you that swimming is not a problem, but do keep an eye on your rate of perceived exertion (Borg Scale), as it's easy to push your heart rate up without noticing while swimming. If you're worried, why not give the BHF nurses a call and let them put your mind at rest. All the best.
