Hi all. Not been on for a while have been recovering from triple bypass cabg. My procedure was on April 14th but have been having irregular palpitations since also my legs and arms are weak and find even washing my hair in the shower makes my arm ache. Can anyone advise if this is normal after four months. Thanks in advance. Sean.

It is nearly impossible to answer questions like this as the starting point is unknown. Was the person a couch potato? Was the bypass to treat angina or following a heart attack? In my case I struggled with hair washing initially(keeping arms below shoulder level) but was otherwise showering unaidid after eight days. At four months I could walk about three miles (limited by arthritis and maybe PAD) and use 2 - 3 kg dumbells. I think you need to talk to your GP asap.

Hi thanks for the reply. I can assure you I am no couch potato and try to lead a reasonably healthy lifestyle. Ie non smoker occasionall social drinker. My cabg was due to having a heart attack 5 years ago but after 2 attempts at stents inserted that have not worked.

I think weak arms are normal for a while, but best to talk to your GP or cardiologist (or there are BHF nurses you can contact apparently) just to check yourself out. You obviously feel things aren't as they should be, so don't delay. Good luck, and do let us know.
