From the responses here when Mick Jagger had his TAVI early last year I know many here are Rolling Stones fans.

Yesterday evening we got the sad news that Charlie Watts has passed away at 80. One of the world's top drummers he will be sorely missed. I am sure Mick and Keith will resume touring but Charlie will be impossible to replace.

RIP Charlie

And here's something to remember him by:

RIP Charlie Watts.

Yes. I’m a big Stones fan. Like others of my generation it was good to see them out there still rocking at their age. I’m transformed to that teenager again when I listen to them.

Love that he said to Jagger. “I’m not your drummer! You are my singer!”

(There is a longer story to that doing the rounds but I’ll leave it there)

Have a great day Hearties! ❤️

I was a teenager when the Stones started in the 1960's , what a great time that was !

Another of the greats of my teenage years gone, the quiet man, but was the heart beat of the Rolling Stone’s.

A bit before my time, but always sad to see a musical genius pass away⚘

One of the greats! How we all rocked back in the day!! Saw a wonderful interview with his tailor yesterday - described him as a 'dapper gentleman'. RIP.

RIP Charlie. My 26 year old son is a big fan. Shows how they made an impression on young and old.

Allegedly these are Charlie's eight favourite songs of all time:

Charlie Parker – ‘Out of Nowhere’

Frank Sinatra – ‘Night and Day’

Igor Stravinsky – ‘Dance of the Coachmen and Grooms (from Petrushka)’

Tony Hancock / Sid James – ‘The Reunion Party’

Duke Ellington & His Orchestra – ‘Jack the Bear’

Ralph Vaughan Williams – ‘The Lark Ascending’

John Arlott and Michael Charlton – ‘4th Test Match – Eng/Australia July 1956’

Jerome Kern – ‘The Way You Look Tonight’
