What a week

Me and my lovely hubby decided as I had booked a week off work to treat ourselves. On Monday we caught the train to London and went to see Phantom of the Opera, stayed over and came home on Tuesday. Wednesday we were both a bit knackered but still high from the trip so rested. Popped to pick my new specs up on Thursday and a catch up with friends. Yesterday caught the train to Skipton as we hadn't been since before lockdown. I am shattered but very happy.

We took our time and booked the hotel in London less than a mile from the theatre so we could walk there. It took us a while and a few stops for coffee but we did it. He is not well himself so this was a triumph for him.

Just feeling a bit smug at this week's achievements and sheer joy at seeing Phantom again.

I am a happy Pussacat with a fabulous husband and just wanted to share. 😻

Hi pussacat. What a lovely uplifting post for all our members - whether recent or long term hearties. A timely reminder that life continues on and we need to make the most of every day. Maybe next time you could go and see "cats" ?😽 xx

That’s lovely to hear so glad you both had a lovely time think sometimes we have to push ourselves and are often glad afterwards that we have done so 👍x

Thank you, we have got to keep ticking along. I feel great that I made the effort and achieved something memorable and positive. I refuse to let a dicky ticker define me as a person and can often forget how unwell I have been. Planning the trip and having it to look forward to was a massive incentive to keep moving forward with life and living. 😽

Phantom is a show you could never tire of. It was one of the first London ones I saw and when it started I sat there thinking what a shabby old stage and I wasn't impressed at all, but then of course it soon goes into wow mode. It was my birthday two weeks before Christmas and when we went back to our hotel there was an electric piano playing carols. We sat there listening with a glass of wine - was a time I'll never forget!

I must say I think you were brave to mix with large crowds though. I still don't feel confident enough to do that.

How lovely though to have a touch of normality in your life.

Everyone was asked to wear a mask and you had to be able to show an NHS Covid pass to show you had been vaccinated. We were just happy to be able to do something normal. The current Phantom is incredible and the lady playing Carlotta is sublime. Not many willing to give autographs afterwards but the Phantom was a lovely chap to speak to. I cried all the way through it again...

Worth the effort and exhaustion and would do it again. 😺

Nice to read that... I saw phantom in NY or London cannot remember the place around 1998 or so. I recently saw the TV live version. Skipton I love the place and area around, often had week long hols in the area. I would not dare do it with covid growing though. Glad you enjoyed it

Hi there, we were lucky the train wasn't busy and we kept our masks on. It was nice to go to Skipton on Market day and just mooch up and back down. Nice enough to sit outside for coffee and enjoy watching the world look normalish.
