Hi had an ischemic heart attack 4 years ago . Received 5 stents and on aspirin bisop ramipryl and atorvastatin. Would I be OK to start taking coenzyme Q10 on top of these?

This is really a question for your GP, the fact that someone else may take it, does not necessarily mean you should!
I take coenzyme Q10 & magnesium on a daily basis aswell as other supplements 🙂. Probably best to speak to yr chemist if you want clarification
I would definitely speak to.your gp for advice before taking this.
There was a lot of talk about CQ10 at the rehab classes that I attended. I personally haven't tried it as my muscle aches were found to be all down to the statin I was taking..... eventually found I can tolerate a small dose of Rosuvastatin. I have no issues with my legs after a day out in the Scottish mountains, nor do I get a build up of lactic acid any more. Bizarrely in many ways, having a HA did me lots of favours.
Well Atorvastatin, Simvastatin and Pravastatin all seriously restricted my exercise regime. Any incline really made my legs ache. Now I climb Scottish Munros and have no after-effects. It is quite amazing. I did give thought to trying CQ10 and read up on it, but decided I did not need it when I realised how well I was doing without any supplements. If it works for you, all to the good.
Incidentally, I don't run except to the post box.... I'm made for activities where stamina in a prime consideration. 😁
Definitely worth trying Q10.. try to get ubiquinol which will be more effective and take with food up to 200 mg capsule per day.. do your own research.. your gp may not know its benefits…there is no conclusive research trial but anyone looking at the mevalonate pathway or a working knowledge of biochemistry will understand the logic…your atorvastatin is an inhibitor which is reducing your cholesterol but also other essential compounds such as ubiquinone and dolichols which your cells need to stay healthy divide and give you energy and keep you alive.. statins can have serious side effects and ubiquinol helps to reduce muscle wastage caused by the over reduction of cholesterol and ubiquinone…. you should notice a positive effect after a few weeks.. if you are not handling your atorvastatin well ask your gp if it is ok to reduce dosage to 20gm even 10 grams daily .. you could also switch to Rosuvastatin which some find easier to tolerate…no known adverse side effects mixing Q10 with other meds but if you want reassurance check on drugs.com which from memory list most drug interactions to avoid..
