If you are still under he cardiac team, give them a ring and ask for explanations and advice

I did reply to you Qualipop, seems to have disappeared. Anyway I did ring my consultant cardiologist’s secretary. She said she would ask hi to review my discharge letter. Obviously he is satisfied with the report, and slight change in medication. So here goes 2 and a bit weeks on, still feel weak and fatigued, guess, rather hope I will get stronger with more confidence, and not go on to have a full blown stroke. Must stay positive.

My heart is fine, had aortic valve replacement 2 years ago, and single CABG, and one stent 2013.

Happy weekend to all you hearties, enjoy!

I’m thankful to the nhs every single day!!

Don't be afraid to ring again. You have to pester sometimes to get them to take it seriously. If it doesn't improve ring again - and again. My mother in law had a TIA attack while she was with us. My own GP came out and just said hat's what it was and she would come round. He really didn't care. We got on to her own doctor and I remember what a battle it was to get her seen and treated. Thankfully her tablets were adjusted and she never had another one or a stroke. She lived to be 94 but we really had to insist on getting her seen and properly assessed.

Hi marigoldb. That doesn't sound right, discharged with no follow up support. Assuming you are in the UK, you should initially contact your GP. You dont say if you were discharged with any complications from the TIA, or indeed given any medications, but given your previous medical history, I would be requesting a medication review from your GP as a first step. Good luck.

Thank you for replying, it was certainly a shock when it happened. I had been busy all morning, pushing myself to go into town. Then after a short rest back home, was getting ready to go round to my daughter’s house. They have a Pizza oven in the garden, and a few friends were invited. I had a card to write and trying to do it, the words were getting jumbled! I rang her and the words wouldn’t come out properly, so she and hubbie drove round, only 10 mins away. He assessed the situation and did 999, they were here quite quickly, very kind and reassuring, but of course off to A&E, again couldn’t have been kinder, loads of tests including ECG and brain scan. Everything was back to normal quite quickly, but as I live alone, I was taken to the stroke ward for 24 hours. Quite scary, and still feel I’ve lost a lot of confidence. Can’t drive for a month, but don’t feel I want to at present anyway.

Sorry for going on at length, but it’s been so good you have replied to me.

Best wishes to you, Marigold

Yes I have contacted my GP, and one medication has had to be altered.

It's my pleasure marigold, so glad you have contacted your GP.I totally know how the shock feels as I also had a TIA out of the blue back in 2018 followed by a silent heart attack less than a year later. I was 57 when this all started, I've since been diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, have 3 stents and a cocktail list of daily/lifelong medications to enjoy but at least thanks to all our wonderful NHS staff, I'm still alive.

I'm sure you will regain your confidence and drive again, it just takes time and I'm sure you have been told that a TIA is often a pre-warning to a full-on stroke, so you must look after yourself, or let others help you be the best you can be.

Feel free to let me know how you get on with your GP.

Happy weekend 🌻🌻🌻
