Just thought I’d post some positive news for those of us who have had OHS for valve repair. I am now just over 9 months from having mitral valve repair.I am so happy to be able to get back to swimming especially doing breast stroke! Feel stronger & more confident & grateful in being able to get on with life even though I still get the tingling sensations around the scar ( which seems common)
Onwards & upwards! Xx

Lovely read, I am 5 years today since my Aortic valve replaced and bypass. The time as gone by so quickly, every day as been something to be grateful for, I wish you a continued great recovery.
Lovely to hear this! I am six months post triple bypass and although no pain or major discomfort, everything around my central chest still feels a bit “weird”
I sometimes feel frustrated at not feeling “normal”, but then remind myself how lucky I am to have received the operation, how amazing the care has been from the NHS, and how grateful I am for everything. I am now managing to jog for periods (just 3 or so minutes at a time) during walks, and remind myself of how far I have come since January when I had the cushion on my chest pretty much nonstop, and felt worried each time I sat up after lying down!
All the best for your continued recovery!
Great to hear your news. 😁 I had my valve replaced in January but came out of the operation with persistent Atrial Fibrillation (AF) for short. I was beginning to wonder if I would ever feel well again but I had my third Cardio Version at the end of July and after a couple of ropey days the change has been amazing. I feel great and so full of energy. My scar still tingles too which I think you are right is not uncommon. Janet
