On Wednesday 28 July at 4-5pm, our Live & Ticking 60th birthday special editions continue with Heart Surgery Innovation: From Idea to Reality.

BHF Medical Director, Professor Sir Nilesh Samani will be celebrating 60 years of BHF-funded research and looking at a selection of research success stories from the past six decades.

Heart surgeon and research pioneer, BHF Professor Gianni Angelini from the University of Bristol will be sharing the innovative surgical idea that his team turned into a reality.

We’ll also hear the phenomenal story of explorer and BHF Ambassador, Sir Ranulph Fiennes who Professor Angelini operated on.

Hi Helen. This looks like an interesting summary. It just sparked another thought….has the BHF organised a similar talk on Covid and the heart? We we are beginning to get a few mentions (‘oh yes, and I had Covid’) more in passing. But some knowledge of what we know to date of how the heart is being effected by the virus would be a great update? Good wishes.

I cannot run Zoom. In fact my video consultations barely work. Can I join in any other way? Thank you...
