Headache
Hi there, I know exactly how you are feeling.I've been taking it for 5 weeks following a HA and angioplasty....my headaches have all but gone now as has the nausea, the biggest side effect I've still got is dizziness if I get up too quickly.
I know it's protecting my heart, so I've been prepared to give it time whilst my body gets used to it's effects.
Hi to you I know it’s not easy is it can I ask you do you still drive because I still done I haven’t lately but I’ve been on a lower dose if this keeps happening to me and I can’t drive I well have to change the pills to one that don’t give me a headache I hope it helps you in the end and settles down for you
Yes, I've driven three or four times in the last couple of weeks with no issues.Obviously I wouldn't have got behind the wheel if I'd been feeling too unwell or nauseous or dizzy.
Bisoprolol at 2.5 mg made me feel like a zombie- but then I didn’t have a high heart rate was just there as protection after bypass. It was lowered to 1.25 & feel settled there. Not sure that helps but that’s my experience of it- I think of it as my nasty med- even though it’s the smallest tablet I take!!!
It does take a while to get in the system, this happened to me and lasted about a week I say. I had a bad head my heart was all over the place I felt really really strange my bp was all over the place it passed though
Headaches are a common side effect of many meds. I have angina and due to meds and gtn spray I rarely am without some type of headache. My gp took me off bisoprolol due to lowering my Bp to much on a constant basis. I am on nicorandil currently. I have been on bisoprolol before on all doses up to 6mg. Hated it and the feelings I got. Due to lower Bp I was lightheaded and dizzy a lot. Fuzzy head and hard to think.
I started Bisoprolol on 5mg a day and also started getting headaches (with ocular 'puddles'). I then went down to 2.5mg a day and the headaches have gone. My heart seems to be mostly under 90 bpm averaging about 60 - 70 bpm. Ask the Doctor if going down to 1.25mg a day would work.
HelloI take Bisoprolol currently 7.5mg with none or very little side effects Pulse is upper forties and BP between 115 down to 90 and roughly around the 60 mark for the diastolic measure. So we are all different on Bisoprolol.
I don't know if it would help by taking 1.25mg twice a day say morning and evening that may help !! I don't know if 1.25mg twice a day has the same effect as 2.5mg in one go, maybe someone else can answer that ??
Hope it all goes well for you, rest assured it is pretty normal to take a while to get meds sorted.
I have had the same thing happen, but I hate the heart racing feeling so will put up with the headaches.
Hi, I was on bisoprolol but never really suffered any side effects, but Isosorbide mononitrate was horrendous, I took at breakfast 7:30-8:00 and each day by around 2pm it started for 2-3hrs, they were so bad I had to stop taking them, I let my cardiologist know and he asked me to try taking them later in the day but that only moved the headache until early evening.Unfortunately my restenosis and breathless when doing menial tasks has returned for third time due to an under expanded stent furring up again causing worse angina which the gp has increased my dosage of diltiazem hydrochloride to 300mg until I can see my cardiologist again, it’s relieved the symptoms somewhat but I was tired before but am shattered all the time now.🤦🏻♂️
HiHad similar symptoms and changed dose to 1.25 which I managed better twice a day rather than one tablet first thing. After 2 months I dropped to just 1.25 and coped much better with my teaching job despite racing heart at odd times although still suffered from crippling constipation. Then after 18mths super low blood pressure, fatigue and more frequent episodes of dizziness made this intolerable so I got swapped to Flecanaide. Coming off bisopropol spun me into a huge mental mess. Flecanaide settled after 3months although had increase in sudden heart rate drops. Prior to ablation and EP study surgery I had to come off all medication. In the end they couldn’t go ahead with the ablation as the ectopics were too infrequent so I was told to come off meds to get worse to go back to surgery. After the hospital I experienced huge anxiety, frequent heart rate drops to 38 and palpitations but now 3-4months after with some counselling I feel the most normal since 2019 off medication completely.
Hi linip I was on bisoprolol 1.25 mg in the morning and evening but I was still having my heartbeat going too fast so know I take 2.5mg a day one in the morning and one in the evening so I well see how I get on with it for now
Headaches, on bisoprolol? Definitely. I am no 2.5mg and 1.30mg daily, and it makes me me tired, and this lack of concentration, which I did not realise was caused by bisoprolol (just getting older) all sound familiar. I am on it for almost a year, and it is not getting better. But I have better and worse days, like yesterday when my h/a became quite uncontrollable, I found it difficult to sleep feeling worn out today. But the worse thing is that my eyes get painfully dry and sore in the evening, and it is impossible to read, which I enjoy so much. I did not realise this was also caused by bisoprolol. I have drops etc, but it does not help much.
At times I wonder that the poor quality of life, caused because of various medicines, is worth it.
Funny I am not so much afraid of dying, as ending up as a vegetable because of the high risk of stroke in my case, this is one reason that I am taking all this poisons.
