Annual Hospital check ups delayed indefinitely (post aortic valve replacement)

My Husband - like most people - had his annual post replacement aortic valve check up last year by phone. This years appointment has been cancelled as they are so far behind they are only doing emergencies. He has a tissue valve done 8 years ago & they did say they are hoping to start Saturday appointments at some stage - has anybody else had something similar (note this is a large major hospital)

Mine was 5 months late... was not given time frame just told they were behind. By which time it was 2.5 years since some looked at my tissue valve.

My 6 monthly AS echo was delayed by 14 months, but had it a week ago on a Saturday. Bliss! Car Park Empty, Hospital Empty, No-one around. My Friend who is about 6 years post AVR has had his regular echo delayed at the same hospital and still not had an appt. They do seem to have priority lists and you can ask your GP to write to the hospital if you're worried about anything.

I'm just over 2 1/2 years since my AVR - my last check was 4 months after the op, seen nobody or heard from no doctor since.

I had my first post op AVR check cancelled last year due to Covid (which is understandable). I had a telephone consultation with a different consultant who basically asked if I was okay, and that was it. I have heard nothing since. Luckily I am feeling fit and well, and I presume if I start t worry about something I will contact my GP first.

well that might be interesting in some areas - first getting through to gp surgery Than usually doing phone appointment etc etc etc

Morning,Normally have a yearly echocardiogram didn’t have last year, received a letter beginning of June to say they were pleased to give me an appointment for 1-6 for my 5 year review echocardiogram and cardiologist. Thought will have to phone that dates passed! Suddenly brain clicked in and read 2022! By the time it comes round it will be 6 years since my tissue valve was replaced and will be having my 5 year review 😂 the last paragraph made me laugh it said if I couldn’t make the appointment I had 7 days from the date at the top of the letter to change it! Hope everything is ok in 12 months time.
