After spending 5 days in CCU I am diagnosed with micro vascular angina. I have pain that wakes me during the night and sometimes when resting during the day. My energy levels are low. My question is around experiencing a persistent dull ache today. Is this normal. Usually the spray helps. I’m aware that I could be over thinking but I seem to get the best and quickest advice from this site!

Micro vascular angina pain
Hello Worvera
I live with coronary vasospastic angina.
I have vasospasms in my small and large blood vessels.
After a severe episode of chest pain, I will experience a bruised ache in my heart area. It's like an imprint of my original chest pain.
I am also very tired, I feel totally exhausted.
How has your Microvascular angina been diagnosed?
Chest pain at rest is more common symptom of vasospastic angina.
It's important to know the cause AZ the treatment for Microvascular angina is different to vasospastic angina.
I was once given beta blockers which make vasospasms worse and this landed me in hospital for 5 days.
I would keep a log of your symptoms and if your chest pain doesn't improve get in contact with your Cardiologist for a review of your medication.
It can take a while to get the best combination of medication that will help you best.
Ah! I feel I can relate to the imprint of the original chest pain and 'bruised' is the right feeling too. I had been diagnosed with angina but only for 4 weeks and the episodes were getting worse and closer together until I had six attacks within 24 hours and was told it was crescendo angina. I was hospitalised and monitored with attacks happening more during the night which work me up. I had the treadmill stress test and the angiogram too. My large vessels are fine with the exception of a slight blockage on one which doesn't need any stent. The consultant just said microvascular angina and my prescription changed. It's definitely better than it was but I still wake up in pain every night but only occasional episodes through the day. Like you, I'm constantly tired too. I've also been referred for an MRI but have no idea when that would be. I'll definitely take your advice and start to log my symptoms. Thank you so much Milkfairy
I find being woken at night with chest pain one of the worst aspects of living with vasospastic angina.
Be patient with yourself it takes time to find your new normal. I have been living with vasospastic angina for 9 years.
