Specialist in micro vascular angina
Hello AJ51
Welcome to the forum.
Are you seeing a Cardiologist at the moment?
How have you been diagnosed with Microvascular angina?
It can be very difficult to find a Cardiologist who has the expertise to care for patients with Microvascular and or vasospastic angina.
The forum guidelines do not allow us to post individual doctors or name hospitals with recommendations on the forum.
However there is a trial taking place into a possible treatment for Microvascular angina.
If you do have a Cardiologist I suggest you ask them to contact the trial manager.

Thank you for taking time to reply. I have seen a cardiologist, but now discharged to my GP . I feel I have had mixed messages with cardiologist saying my heart is in good condition, but suggested medication for blood pressure and ventricular ectopics, I asked him specifically about micro vascular angina as my symptoms reflect that.I have attempted to come off Bisoprolol and isosorbide but went back almost to the beginning with awful chest pain radiating to my chin, increased breathlessness . I plan to speak to my GP tomorrow. I am a nurse of 30 years but feel completely out of my knowledge boundaries. I didn’t realise you are unable to recommend, apologies for that .
Best wishes
No problem. I have sent you a message
Hi There I am under a Professor Collins at the Brompton hospital in London . My Gp referred me after my local hospital cardiology department wasn't helping. Since p the pandemic i have had telephone consultations with him and he is so lovely and helps massively. Ask Gp fir referred as your entitled to see other consultants . X
I’ve heard from many sources he’s a leader in the field.
I am glad you have had a good experience with your Cardiologist.
However the Royal Brompton do not carry out invasive testing for microvascular dysfunction and vasospastic angina which is important.
Nor is the Royal Brompton taking part in the PRIZE study a possible treatment for Microvascular angina.

Mr Collins does do all the necessary testing and looks at your previous records as there are thousands of people who have been overlooked for this condition and its important to be diagnosed . I have been ill for 11 years and had several mini strokes and now feel much safer with treatment from him as previous cardiologist do not listen and have not recognise the condition. It was my GP who had some experience while training with this condition and recognised that I was been overlooked and made a referral. I am now much better with the medication he has perscribed and able to exercise more now and lead a normal life.
I am really pleased to hear that Prof Collins was able to help you.
Prof Collins does not perform angiograms with acetylcholine which is the only way to diagnose vasospastic angina.
I know this from personal experience.
My Coronary vasospasms were overlooked too just as your Microvascular dysfunction was overlooked.
Some people's angina with non obstructive coronary arteries is caused by Microvascular dysfunction others by vasospastic angina and it is important to have the appropriate testing which is only carried out in a few places.
