Hi there, it was confirmed I had WPW syndrome in February 2021 and I agreed to have an EP study, and abolition of the accessory pathway if needed. I’ve just had the date for the procedure through (August!) and I’m beyond nervous! A lot of the anxiety and worry I had pushed to the back of my mind has come back now I’ve got a date.
Has anyone had the procedure done and can you share your experience/any advice? I think my anxiety is coming from the thought of having it done and being awake through it all! I’d love to hear how it’s been for others going through it.

Winf10 , lucky u (i guess) for gettin a date for ur abolition. No, i got no procedure done so can't b of any help to ur qn, sori.
Me too! Got a big heart jump dat time too (Feb 2021) The only wy i culd describe it was it was like a firework lol... u know how when u see them lit up in da sky, first therez a small boop, then the big boom where the Fire workz blew open. Yeah, my big heart jump felt like dat, i was just sitting at the pc, chill calm relaxed, next min all of a sudden was just a small bop BOOM. Went to White Cross three days later, dr say luk lik pre-excitation (i got offended coz told the term of meaning literally ), dr seem to just brushed me off n said Yeah, luk like u did had a bit of palpitation. The dr advised me if it was a heart attack ~it wuld fell like a horse kicked me in the chest??
But the following months whenevr my heart acted up (chest pain/ squeezes/ knocks/ twistin ) i search the term "palpitation", n nothin i read add up to wat i had experienced in Feb. i found aFib was closer to wat i felt dat day......
Almost a yr later, i went to my second opinion Dr, pulled out my original ECG n asked him if he can reassure me i didnt had a heart attack. Second Dr again brought up the term pre-excitation. Got offended again, but this time luked up the term n DERR realised is a legit th. WPW/ Accessory Pathwy
My heart acted up again this mnth (left arm pain for a few days, shoulder pain, chest pain dat came on a few mins etc). n i just thought my goodness, plz dn't tell me i'm havin another "big heart jump".
I had brieftly read about the abolition/ablation procedure, not sure how i feel about it (for myself). I meant i'm not diagnosed dat i hav wpw. i neva used to go to drz for anything, n originally thought my heart jump was caused by my head injury (when i had sustained two mnthz prior).
Anywyz, watever ur story is, hope thz goes better for u healthwise after ur abolition.
