I've had two eye strokes, my first 18 months ago, my second 4 weeks ago. This is when the blood supply to your retina is blocked briefly in one eye causing loss of vision in one eye. Mine lasted around 15/20 minutes.
After the second one I was put onto Clopidogrel blood thinners and Antorvastatin cholesterol reducing medication to reduce the risk of this or a full stroke happening again
I'm due a dental deep clean this week so my doc advised I should cease taking the Clopidogrel for a week as the risk of a recurrence was far less than being unable to stop a bleed and it is amazing just how much more energy and zest for life I have now!
My question is, has anyone been successful in replacing Clopidogrel with another drug which achieves what is needed without this awful fatigue?
Any response appreciated.

Hi! I’ve been on Clopidogrel since my first two stents 6 years ago. Like you, have suspended use pending dental surgery for five days before, was told by consultant to take a ‘loading dose’ after surgery. Never had any symptoms apparently associated with Clopidogrel and apart from normal rhythm of a normal life have never lost energy or zest!
After so many years on Clopidogrel (and other meds) thought I’d read pretty much everything, side effects seem fairly rare unless other health factors are in play or due to the nocebo effect. Only people that can advise on alternatives will be your consultant or GP. Hope you find a resolution.
