London to Birmingham Fundraising Walk

Thanks to everyone who has already commented or donated, we are extremely grateful. I have had three heart attacks, been stented had angioplasty and a by-pass in 2017, two days ago I found out that at some point in the past I have had a silent stroke. A year ago I discovered a brother that I never knew that I had, he was born in Birmingham in 1946, I was born in 1960 in a hospital on the Grand Union Canal. I am now studying photography at degree level at Solent University. My partner Ruby and I decided that we would walk from where I was born in Paddington to Birmingham where my brother was born to raise money for the BHF, without whose research into cardiac and vascular disease I would probably not be here. There is more on the story here: bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

We will be keeping a daily blog of our journey here: instagram.com/grandunioncan...

Donations can be made direct to the BHF at: justgiving.com/fundraising/...

We will be documenting our journey for a future book about this walk. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and just a couple of years ago I never thought I would ever be able to contemplate doing something like this!

Hi Ian, we head to London tomorrow (Sunday) and we start at 8.00 am from the Paddington basin on Monday 21st. 10 days and 141 miles later we will reach Birmingham! (We hope) You sound really positive about your angioplasty and I am glad you are out of hospital, I hope it works for you and you get the outcome you need. Take care, Jim
