I feel sure many people will offer you genuine help/advice on this site Also there is a Pain Association in the uk. and they may have a help line. I used them many years ago when i had sciatica for 3 years and could not get GP help.

I live with chronic pain which can become acute and severe meaning I need to go into hospital. It's tough

I am so sorry you are in such a dark place at the moment.

You have had some good advice, ring the Samaritans or CALM.

I suggest you ask your GP to refer you to a Pain Management Specialist. I attended a Pain Management Programme and found it really helpful.

I also used an app Curable which helped me approach my pain differently too. Unfortunately you have to pay for the app but they do a free month for free.

Another app Insight timer is free and has various strategies that may help you as well.

As others have said there is help and I hope you are able to get the help you need soon.

I was in horrendous pain for four years and i mean dreadful unrelenting pain and my life was totally overtaken by it. No one had any answers and i had so many tests and scans during that time and untold numbers of pain meds.

Eventually i was referred to the hospital pain clinic which helped. Perhaps ask your doctor to refer you to one. Its worth a try. Remember nothing goes on forever and eventually you will find a route out of this pain and regain your life. Dont give up please.

Never give up, a solution will present itself somehow, someway when you least expect it. It did for me and i was desperate at the time with excruciating pain and despair. Dig in for now. Forum people here will support you across the airwaves as best we can. Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your suffering and the desperate situation. Sometimes these things are a bit of a postcode lottery and I am wondering where you are - there are some pain clinics in some major hospitals and I wonder if there is a chance that you can get a GP referral, though I appreciate that this could involve a long wait, especially in these challenging times. May I ask what is it that is causing the pain? You have mentioned that you are having neck surgery soon and maybe your pain will be better managed once you are in hospital. Others on here have suggested certain helplines and I do hope that you manage to get more help and advice when you try those. Good luck.

I’m not surprised you’re at the end of your tether. Chronic pain is awful - and as you say creates other issues as your body tenses up. Could you go back to your GP and say look, I really can’t just live with this?

I see you’ve tried hypnotherapy. Does meditation help? Something to quieten the mind. Or is there anything that helps distract from the pain, even for a short while? I’m really sorry x

9 years is a very long time to be suffering, I've always found gentle exercise useful in managing any pain, for me a stroll in the woods, a time to see the beauty around me is always helpful, but, this does depend on your situation as I appreciate exercise of any kind isn't always doable for everyone. My other thought would be finding a homeopath and having a consultation, as they will treat your body as a whole not just the symptoms, and pain is only a symptom of an underlying health concern.

As you have said you have already tried many things, homeopathy maybe worth considering.

And do please keep talking x

HiThis is the number for Lifeline 08088088000.

I have been in contact with them before ad i have depression and anxiety. They are fantastic and will be able to organise counselling local to you.

Having recently suffered a stemi and had stent fitted i umderstand how health worries add to the depression. I really hope someone will help you manage your pain better soon.x

It is truly hard to live with continuous pain. I found Vidyamala Burch who suffered a nasty accident and lives with chronic pain. She developed a program for people living in pain based on her own experience and mindfulness. There are books also available; her website and local Breathworks courses to attend to support you. Explore her web site and see if anything fits for you. I found this all tremendously helpful and was so glad I found a group of likeminded people who understood.

Also ask for a referral to a pain clinic/ neuropsychologist if you can.

Take care and know that life can be better. We are not our pain.

AFraid your post is on the heart forum but I'll try to help. I've suffered chronic unbearable pain for over 30 years. You need to demand your GP sends you to a pain clinic. The quality varies from area to area. Ask he Brit pain foundation where you can find one. Your local hospital should have one but here may be better a bit further away. When mine started I had a GP like yours and I was driven to see a pain consultant privately who immediately admitted me to hospital to be treated by is pain team on NHS. If you can afford it, it would avoid what are often very long waits. I tried 4 local ones then finally heard about one consultant in Manchester and asked to be referred to him. After 10 years of others not having a clue, I finally got a diagnosis within 5 minutes of meeting him. It takes time and determination - not easy when you feel so bad.

Have you tried acupuncture ? I had arthritis in both hands 20 years ago and was in a lot of pain and could no longer write which affected my work. It has gone completely. A G P suggested one to me who was a doctor but became qualified to treat acupuncture . He also listened to me which was wonderful

Non ST elevation myocardial infarction. A type of heart attack

Ackers72 profile image
Ackers72 in reply to Edsonmontibeller

NSTEMI stands for non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction, which is a type of heart attack. Compared to the more common type of heart attack known as STEMI, an NSTEMI is typically less damaging to your heart.
